Hello St. John experts!
My wife and I will be visiting St. Thomas for a day (wednesday) on a cruise in September. We want to ferry over to St. John and rent a jeep for the day. I understand that most rental places have a 3 day minimum rental policy. I also contact L&L and they won't let me rent a jeep for a day even if I show up and they have a vehicle available. Does anyone know of a rental company that will allow me to show up and rent for one day if they have a vehicle available? Thanks.
take care,
Mike Arruda

As soon as you get off the ship you can walk across the street to (I think) Budget/Avis Rental. That's where I went. They allow one day rental. Then you can drive to Red Hook (they'll give you a map) and get on a car ferry. It's fast and easy. Just make sure you check the website for ferry times. We ran close coming back to the ship and it was scary. The ride from the cruise ship to Red Hook is about 45 minutes because the roads are so windy. It was so worth it though. St John is beautiful!!

My husband and I rented a Jeep for one day on STJ from Varlack with no problems. By renting on STJ when you arrive you don' t have to pay the extra cost of the car ferry, but can take the regular passenger ferry over from STT.

Enjoy your day on STJ...it won't disappoint! 😎

No way would I rent a car in STT for the day on STJ - too risky catching the car ferry back when you are on a tight schedule - remember you are responsible for getting the vehicle back to STT should it break down and that alone could take many, many hours (and even the next day)
