What's the deal with the Contessa? Who is she, where was she born, what does she do, etc.? I managed to track down her gardener at his place, but he was too busy to chat much and had a very heavy accent that I had trouble understanding. The views from up around her castle are fantastic.

Questions about the Contessa and her castle "Mountaintop Eyrie" have come up a couple of times on this board. This is probably the most helpful thread:

Doing a search of the board on "contessa" will bring up one or two other threads with additional input.

I just read the cited thread about the contessa and a connection was made. All my growing up years were spent in a Sid Farber house. The contessa's husband developed quite a few neighborhoods on Long Island in competition with Levitt's Levittown. This was post WW II GI housing. Amazingly all the Sid Farber houses are just like Mountaintop Eyrie.....NOT! My folks had a tough time deciding between the houses of the two developers and decided to spend a little more for Farber's three bedroom one bath ranch at $11,000 rather than Levitt's ranch for $9,000. My parents still live there. Completely off topic, I know, but I was struck by this connection and wanted to share.
