We will be in St. Croix in 4/05, and are looking at the Villa, View Galore, located on a hillside west of Christiansted.. Anyone familiar with this villa? Is the location good? Is it as nice as it looks in the pictures (sometimes they can be deceiving!).
We are also diving, is it easy to get to the dive shops from this location?
We have never been to St. Croix, so any info is appreciated.

Cheryle,
I am not familiar with the specific villa you mentioned, but it's not hard to get to much of anywhere on the island.

Cheryle,

If you're staying west of Christiansted you are close to Cane Bay and that is the place most people go to dive, off the wall. You should rent a car or jeep to get around the island easily. You should have a great time-- we saw lots of people diving and quite a few dive shops there now. It seems that more people are going down there now just for that.

I don't know where exactly the villa is located. However, note that you can pretty much get to anywhere from anywhere on STX within 20-25 minutes or so at the most. I looked at the view of the villa online and my guess is it's around hermon hill area. The ffar left point in picture posted here:

is right off of Judith's Fancy, at Salt River. You can call the agents to be sure though. I haven't stayed at the villa but the location, if it's hermon hill, is good. You'd be pretty close to c'sted and east end, with a bit longer drive to south shore or f'sted. Cane Bay's probably a 15 minute drive, C;sted's about 5 minutes away, F'sted's about 25 minute ride; all good. Enjoy the island. IMO STX is the best USVI for people who want to enjoy the beauty and not so rugged environment, and keep @ a safe distance from the masses upon masses of our good friends, cruise ship travellers (we welcome you one and all). If you're going to be down there during full, or semi-full moon, see if you can arrange a night dive off of F'sted's pier.

It's a beautiful unique island with plenty of history, beautiful beaches (longest white sand beach in USVI ..Sandy Point which is closed at time for Turtle migration/nesting),
friendly Cruzans and others, the best golf course in the US/BVIs and possibly some of the antilles (Carambola...Robert Trent Jones desinged course), fantastic diverse cuisine (make absolute certain to try local food at an authentic cruzan rest) etc. I can't tell you enough about all the things you can do, and how RIGHT a choice you've made to visit the Big Virgin (had to throw that in).

I'd be interested in knowing if you found out any information about View Galore as I am planning to stay there this year as well. Thanks.
