I just returned from St. Croix and wanted to share one of the best kept secrets on the island........the South Shore Cafe! It is on the South Shore Road (not far from the Great Salt Pond) and the food was superb. Handmade pasta, FRESH fish, homemade manicotta and ravioli stuffed w/ yummy ingredients and save room for dessert.......home made BLACK PEPPER ice cream, flan, etc. If you have never tasted Black Pepper ice cream you will fall in love with the taste. I was told that the South Shore Cafe relocated last year and is now in a brand new building, not far from it's old location. This restaurant is spectacular. A beautiful handmade mahogany bar, family photos, island decor, and a beautiful view of the water. I was told reservations are rather mandatory during high season - so be sure to phone ahead (340)773-9311. You won't be disappointed........food is fabulous, as is the service and the wine list. Bon appetite!!!!!
Hello,EW,
Family dined at SSC two years ago at the old location: you are so right about the black pepper ice-cream, the taste is unforgettable!
Another place I like for the contrast is Dugan's Reef not too far from SSC.
Glad you all enjoyed your visit.
