My husband and I are trying to plan a vacation for December and want to know which island we should go to? Or should we 'island hop' for our vacation and see both islands?
We are looking for a place with good night life, but not so much the bar scene.
Just trying to decide which place would be better and any hotel recommendations would be great. I have viewed the website for the Frenchmans Reef & Morning Star Marriot Beach Resort(St. Thomas) and that looks nice.
Any tips and ideas and thoughts are highly recommended!!
Thanks.
Hello Jen,
Both islands would keep you busy on their own and they are both fun to visit, St. Thomas has more nightlife but much of the nightlife here is dance/bar/restaurant all in one.
If you are up for island hopping you could try one of two things; see what the ticket price is to say fly into St. Croix but leave from St. Thomas - then you can get a one way ticket on the Seaplane or ferry to get between the two islands. If this is an option then fly into St. Thomas or St. Croix and then buy a round trip ticket on the Seaplane of ferry and spend a few days on both. From St. Thomas - St. John and Water Island are easy day trips - so you could in fact see each of the USVI islands on your vacation... how many days did you say your vacation was 🙂
What other things are you looking for in your vacation maybe that would help narrow it down? Other resorts to check out Secret Harbor, Sapphire Beach, Ritz Carlton, Bluebeards Castle .... On St. Croix you could try Buccaneer, Divi or Carombola for a resort or a b&b like Pink Fancy or other hotels in town like Hotel on the Cay or King Christian.

I went to most of the Islands in this area - StCroix will be theleast expensive - but less night life kind of thing compared to St.Thomas. If you think you do not want to get boared - go to St.Thomas. Travelling to St.Thomas for night life or going to the other Islands can become expensive & time consuming. There usually no boat at late hrs & no flights at night. St.Croix will also keep you limited to St. Croix only - way out to other Islands is through St.Thomas. You can fly straight to other Islands but they are kind of chartered flights because of not too much trafic. On the other hand, from St.Thomas you can go to lots of British Virgin Islands for an efordable boat ride.
Like the Islander said - you will know for yourself during your visit.
