Saw a post on Tripadvisor that The Spyglass in St John closed. Then saw a later review. Is it closed? Reopened?

It was open when I was there in June.

It's not unusual for places to close for a month in off season, especially in August or September since it's so slow. Did you contact the owners?

Spyglass is closed. I was there for a drink in early June, but it closed shortly after. It is scheduled to re-open as a new Italian restaurant, by the same owner of Waterfront Bistro and Joe's Rum Hut. Also doing renovations (i.e. the roof). More info on the attached TA thread....

I hope the bartender, Brian or Michael I think his name was and originally from Ohio was able to find work elsewhere of able to keep the same position at the new place.

Thanks good info. Restaurants sure come and go in St John. Also heard the Barefoot Cowboy is for sale. We will be there next weekend as we are there every June and October.
