I just found out via email that Spirit Air has canx most of the DFW market to STT-I was scheduled to depart on 5/24-6/3-hello, prime w/e holiday w/e. I am so upset and frustrated, they didn't even offer to reschedule or seem to care for that matter. This was my first experience and my LAST with this airline. Any suggestions on some decent airfare. I have looked at AA and now the air is running almost $600p/p I am beside myself and locked into these dates b/c land portion is paid for. Sorry, to vent-an email folks-thank goodness I checked it!

Didn't they just recently start flying to STT from DFW?? Hopefully someone can help you with airfare. Good luck.

Yes, they did and pushed it hard! Only to find out you have been canx. I found $533/pp on AA-booking it today, thanks

I just remembered I was checking Spirit the other day (still haven't purchased our airfare for June) and there's always been a Wednesday flight out of PVD but it wasn't showing the other day and I just assumed the flight was sold out. I just checked the website again a little further for our time frame and the only fares that are coming up now are weekends (plus Fridays). I might be mistaken but it looks like DFW isn't the only place they're cutting flights to STT. I hope this isn't true because it seems as if there must be a lot of people out there booked to STT with Spirit. I also checked some random dates in May and found the same thing - primarily weekend flights.

If I remember correctly, based on articles I've read, Spirit's intent was to limit most of their regularly scheduled flights to "season," which is through April. Most of the other airlines cut back on numbers of flights after April, too, so Spirit isn't the only carrier.

I've been watching the weekday June flights from PVD to STT with Spirit on a regular basis for several months and suddenly this week the weekday June flights which have previously been available are no longer available.

Now they're website isn't available and I just tried calling but they're having heavy call volume.

I was on hold for 20minutes to speak to someone. Cutting flights is one thing, an entire market is another, especially after all the hype. Didn't sell like they wanted so to hec with the customers. They now will fly DFW-STT outbound on Saturday with Sunday only returns and only one flight, lol. I found out by email. I thought they use to have a recorder call and leave a message that your flight had been canx?!

Sounds like Spirit is doing the "airline thing" and going in the

dumpster. Run for your lives.... "CEO's and Republican Senators first.

This is just another example of the "scalping" of America. Thanks George W...

ms411 has it right, Spirit has always cut back their flights in the off season. Not sure why they would let you book it and then cancel, in the past they just would not allow you to book to begin with.

Have flown them several times from Det. Mi. never any problems and always on time. Biggest issue was that you could not get your seat ahead of time.

Sorry to hear they are doing this to so many folks.

Thanks-I agree why let us book it only to canx us and upset a potential buying customer. Congrats to Jill here on the board, after reading her wedding post I feel better. I booked AA(paid a lot more for my ticket, with worse times and wound up staying another day so this ordeal is REALLY costing me, lol. It will be all be worth it. Caribbean Villas was great about moving my res around once I explained my situation, so BIG applause for them. Thanks, d

Any word on cancellations in May from Reagan? I have a flight on 5-8 that I just got for $351. Hopefully it is still cool.

Ajax,
I think you are safe flying from Reagan. I am flying into Reagan today from STT. Spirit like a lot of airlines is increasing routes to the Caribbean and adjusting some as they go along.
Spirit has also rolled out a frequent flyer program finally after much demand from their customers but it is for only flights booked and traveled on or after Feb 28.

There’s a lesson here, friends. If you have a big vacation planned and you’re relying on the goodness of the airline to call you and tell you and offer to help you, it’s time to wise up. I travel a lot on business and, yes, sometimes they do call and some airlines are better than others, but do you want to count on it? USAir has now changed our flight to STT 3 times, including changing a non-stop to a connection, with no notification of any kind. I have just gotten into the habit of checking in with them every so often. The good news is they have always already rebooked us, but if we hadn’t checked, we might have gone to the airport too late to catch the flight.

Yeah, I read that Spirit cut the PVD-FLL flights temporarily, so it's impossible to get from PVD to STT on Spirit. What I read said that as they acquire more of their new Airbus aircraft, they will reinstate the flight, probably after this summer.
