I'll be searching on services to attend on St. Thomas for Easter Sunday, but are there any other tips as far as this time of year in the USVI? Mostly, I am interested in holiday closings of restaurants, traffic, crowds, etc.

What kind of services? All of the churches have them, of course. Also usually a sunrise service on the beach or two! The only closures will probably be the restaurants that are closed Sunday anyway. Lots of places do special brunch and/or dinner. Easter this year will be a couple of weeks before the Carnival finale, so probably lots to do. Also, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday as well as the day after Easter (Easter Monday) are all government holidays.

We will be on St. Thomas Easter week. Flying home on Saturday to spend Easter with the kids. Islander has a post dated 11/10/05 about a Roman Catholic Church called St. Peter and Paul Cathedral. In my notes I wrote that mass was 6:30, 8:30 and 10:30. They may have a different schedule for Easter too. I would like to attend mass on Palm Sunday but my husband will want to invoke "traveling rules". Especially if we have a few rum cocktails on our first night there.

Lili: Also there is a Roman Church in the Tutu area, Holy Family, one in Frenchtown, St Anne's, and one on top of the mountain, Our Lady of Perpetual Help. I am sure they will all have Easter services!

As far as restaurant closings are concerned, the majority are actually closed on Monday, Depending on what you're looking for where food is concerned, I suppose it would all depend on what you're tastes are and where you're going to go to Church and/or whether or not you have transportation.

Albeit a total heathen (do take that with a grain of salt, please!) and never a Catholic, I've enjoyed services over the years at both the Holy Family Catholic Church in Tutu and at St. Peter Paul downtown. Both of them have a nice atmosphere, as does the Frederick Lutheran Church - also downtown - which is steeped in history.

Enjoy!

Thank you! You have all been very helpful. I appreciate it so much. I feel much better about being away from home at Easter now!!! Well, let's face it, I didn't feel THAT bad going to STT over the holiday..but now I feel GIDDY! LOL. 🙂 thanks again..

As far as food, I suppose we can just make sure we are near the resort so we can head back if need be.
