IMO, I think you picked to wrong island. Try Jamaica, the Bahamas or Mexico for good 'party' locations.

Hi
I've been there already. I'm trying to hit every island at least once. Where did you stay at ? Did you have a bad time ?

St. Thomas has a few places to party. There seems to be a schedule on which night, where. Once you go to the first place I am sure you will find other partiers to tell you where the others are.

For instance, Sapphire has a big party every Sunday afternoon, Duffy's has one on Thursday night, and Friday is considered the best night there. The Greenhouse has special nights every night, Offshore Bar has live music some nights, and finally you have Shipwreck, which could be hit and miss, depending on the hour. But, if you are looking for places that jam every night, I don't think so!

Also, depending on which weekend, you can find specific parties going on, like the Chili Cookoff mentioned elsewhere on this board.

Here was what was going on when I was on St. Thomas about a month ago:

Sunday: Nothing - maybe some resort parties but nothing really happening.

Monday: Same deal. Not much going on. Try Shipwreck across from Havensight (cruise ship dock) if you're up for pool.

Tuesday: The Greenhouse (waterfront). Two-for-one drink night.

Wednesday: Paradise Point - get there around 5:30ish to watch the ships leave and then wait for the masses to show up. Usually lasts until around 10 I believe.

Thursday: If karaoke is your thing, hit up Bolongo. Otherwise, I think they do volleyball or something at Sapphire. You can also find live music at Offshore.

Friday: Without a doubt, hit up Duffy's. Don't bother getting there till around 10 or 10:30, though. Party will last until 2ish.

Saturday: Woody's on St. John. Or, if you don't feel like trekking over that way, try Duffy's again. Wait a little longer, though, as things won't pickup until 12ish.

Hope this helps. E-mail me at [email protected] if you have any questions.

You might want to look into staying at Sapphire Beach, Morning Star or Frenchmans Reef, Bolongo Bay... there are others too, these have bars and stuff in them, so you can go there and see if there are other visitors who want to go out. Then head to the local bars as a group to party or solo.

Which is better: the Marriot, or the Renaissance ? Sapphire Beach & Bolongo, are they cool for a single female traveler ?

Marriott and Ren are largish hotels and no rooms on the beach, probably the most expensive of the group and more couples and family oriented. Sapphire has rooms right on the beach, close to east end, and Sunday beach party noted above. Bolongo is more relaxed- less fancy, on a beach- Thursday beach volleyball under the lights is popular. It is also 1/2 way from Off Shore and Shipwreck noted above and east end (Duffy's etc.) I am not sure one is the best...but you will get some more comments, I am sure.
