The sections on plants and hikes are all excellent, and I'm looking forward to visiting more of the site. Thanks for having pictures of the sandbox and kapok to confirm my tentative ids for them from hiking down from centerline road. "Monkey-no-climb" is such a good common name for those trees...
The hike for "L'Esperance" is for what's called the Sieben Jeep Trail on maps and, at least by some, the Sieben/Mollendahl trail. I wonder if it would be helpful to have the other names in the list as cross references. This is a great hike, and I'm looking forward to visiting it during mango season in a week or so. Maybe I'll make it past the Sieben ruins this time with the energy from a mango boost.
Oh, the detail on the hike is great. I had some trouble reading the florid script on Heinrich Tonis's grave -- thanks for filling in the details.
It's also nice to see a section on "culture". I've been visiting since the late 1980s, and West Indian culture seems less prominent on St. John (wheras Crucian pride is one of the things I enjoy about spending time on St. Croix). Thanks for the reminder that there is a culture on St. John, even if it isn't as easy for tourists like me to see. I'll be there for my first j'ouvert on St. John this year, so maybe I'll be reassured that the culture is surviving the boom in Cruz Bay.
For those of you who would like this wealth of information in book form to put in your beach bag you can find it with Gerald Singers book Off the Beaten Path.
