Hi Phil, I would really love a followup from you once you return about which charter you used to go to the Baths. Hubby and I looked over the opinions on this Board and can't decide for price and time reasons. It seems to me that other than meeting other folks, we could rent a powerboat for the day, fill it with food, and get out of this alot cheaper than the NHII seems to be costing. So if you can- your opinion please upon your return!

Try the Pirate's Penny (out of Red Hook). It's an awesome experience and the captain, Andy, is a first-class guy. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Can't go wrong with Pirate's Penny! We hired them 2 summers ago and it was the best day we've ever had as a family!

We went to the BVIs on Breakaway last week and had a terrific time. (The boat is affiliated with New Horizons, so sorry this isn't a non-NH recommendation.) The boat was nice (plenty of coverage if you want to get out of the sun) and the stops were fun - the Baths, snorkeling off Tortola (or somewhere thereabouts), Pussers at Marina Cay and Jost Van Dyke. I highly recommend them: www.visitbreakaway.com.

Ok here's the low-down, my low-down. First, we stayed on St. John. We decided to do the NH II. Great people, nice boat, good drinks. But the snorkel spot sucked. Later that week I splurged and chartered a boat w/ a captain thru oceanrunners. THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT TO DO!!!!! Price breakdown (find another couple if possible) Boat=$450.00 gas=100.00 plus a little tip. It was the greatest adventure. You go anywhere!! Our captain Joel excellent. The Indians (total must), Foxy's, Saltpond, henna Cay, Mangrove in Coral Bay(must), total stops were like 12-15. The caves, etc..
It may sound like alot of $ and it was, worth every single penny.
