I've been stealthily planning a trip to STJ for this coming fall for my wife and I.

I've read through bunches of the threads on this board, spent many, many hours perusing web sites looking at villas, tours, jeep rental, etc.

The airfare I've been tracking was surprisingly reasonable. WAS!

The one thing that kept me from pulling the trigger on making any reservations at this point was clearing the time frame with my wife to ensure she would be available and willing to go at that particular time. last night I managed to work the topic into conversation, and without revealing the destination or any other details of the plans, got the OK to proceed.

First thing this morning I check and the flights I had planned to take have doubled in price!

While I'm not in full blown panic mode yet (they may yet come back down and it won't KILL me if they don't), it certainly was a shock, and not how I had hoped to start the day...

kayak.com is what I've been using.

I wanted to fly out of Melbourne or Orlando, but using either of those options had me routed through Atlanta before the San Juan-STT leg, making for a longer travel day than I wanted.

Leaving out of Ft. Lauderdale has yielded the best and cheapest flights so far, but what AA was selling for $211 yesterday was up around $450 today. 🙁

Not sure if you've seen the latest Spirit sale fares, I booked yesterday TPA-STT, late May fare fare came to around $300. FLL-STT fares are at $89 one way, TPA-STT are at $119, before taxes and fees.

Spirit is sold out on my first choice of dates, and haven't posted the return flights from the second choice yet.

Thanks for all of the suggestions!

I bought my tickets about two days ago at aa.com, it was by far the cheapest. I wanted to fly out of orlando however by changing to miami i saved about $300.00.

Augie,
Is changing your dates by just a day or two an option? On expedia, you can click on "dates flexible" and it gives the senerios of leaving a few days earlier/later and returning earlier/later. We saved like $200 pp by flying on Thursdays vs Saturdays.
