Have there been any improvements at Smith Bay Park or Beach, formerly Lundquist, I believe. We were last on island last July and they were starting to work on it. Coki was a disaster last summer, have they done anything with the construction projects that were started?

No and don't hold your breath. After all the big speeches and everything Lindquest is the same now three years later. Such is how things don't work down here.
I walk over there every now and then. It is still one of the best beaches on STT. So I am not looking forward to a Megan's bay zoo.
Coki does not have the buildings there. It too is another government disaster.

They do have security, garbage containers and portable toilets at Smith Bay Park, the access road is great and the beach is kept clean but the Magens Bay Authority is holding off on giving any vendor permits until they have the funding to do the job properly in accordance with their Master Plan. Kudos to them for allowing things to proceed slowly instead of rushing ahead and getting into things they're not ready to do. They've been operating Magens Bay for many years now under the same philosophy and without relying on any kind of government funding and do an excellent job.
I haven't heard much about the Coki redevelopment lately but understand that it's slowly moving along. Now THAT beach on big cruise ships days is what I'd term a "zoo" and way more so than Magens! Cheers!
The improvements at Lindquist include cleaning up the brush, improved security, lifeguard, port-a-johns, overall cleaner, a few benches and better road access. No buildings, sheds or anything like that as yet.
And Coki, some of the vendors were moved around since renovations were supposed to start but nothing major has been done. Pretty much still looks like it normally did.
We did an episode for our video show Colors of Paradise TV on both these beaches in recent months, so if you check those out you can take a virtual visit:
