Hi!
My friend and I are going to be in St. John (for a week) from March 18th. We would like to rent a boat (only boat, no captain) for a day. Could you give me some suggestions…
1. Where can I rent a normal (not luxury) small powerboat? (Only 2 people, just my friend and I).
2. I can rent it from you (if you are a local who is reading this message ) too, if you don’t mind. Or maybe if you can tell your friend who want to rent out a boat for a day.
I just saw a picture of Green Cay (BVI) on a magazine the other day, and I think that a nice way to get there is to rent a small powerboat and drive there by myself. That’s my motivation.
You can post a reply to this message, private message me, or send a direct email to me at [email protected].
Thank you very much for your help…

The following link is the example of what I like. http://www.bigpinekeyboatrental.com/17ft.html
Something like this, but not more than 21 ft.
I think Pockets Yachts (in STT, near Wyndham Sugar Bay) has the 21 ft. I tried to call them many times but nobody answered the phone. Is this number, 340-690-6015, the right one? I just saw their ads on “What to do: St. Thomas-St. John 2005”.
Thank you very much for your help

Pirate's Cove Marina in St. Thomas has Merc Pangas for rent.

It's a quick jaunt over to St. John from there (and I imagine you're going to be landing in St. Thomas anyway).
They have really reasonable rates, and a fuel dock and general store right there, so everything's convenient.
You can reach them at 340-774-5780.
Enjoy your trip!

Waters Edge Sports, located in American Yacht Harbor in Red Hook, can arrange to drop off a boat for you on St.John. Info can be found on their site at: www.stthomasboatrentals.com
Paul,
Since you're staying on St. John, an easier option would be Ocean Runner Powerboat Rentals right by the ferry dock in Cruz Bay. They rent 25 to 29 foot single and twin engine boats, and will allow you to go into the BVI if you're qualified to handle the trip. Check out http://www.oceanrunner.vi/
Best,
Thank you so much for all the infomation.
I've talked to "Pockets Yachts", and will rent the boat from them.
I know it's in STT, and I am going to stay in STJ, but Dan (the person I talked to at Pockets Yachts) is a nice guy. He told me all the info I need to know. So, I think why not rent it from him. (It's not that other places are not nice. It's just that I talked to him first and everything works out better than I thought. So, I just rent it from him.)
thanks again for all great info.
This is exciting.....I am gonna be there in a couple days....!!!!

I am SOOO jealous! After months of Michigan winter, I would kill to be able to spend the day boating over to White Bay.
Have a painkiller for me!
To Colorado Boy,
How did the boat rental go, what size boat did you rent and where did you go? I have the same intentions to rent a powerboat, but want an 18 foot bowrider if possible. Any ideas or suggestions? Will visit St. Thomas July 23rd through 30th.
