Does anyone out there think it might be a nice idea to plan a group villa rental for us moms (single or just ok ith vacationing without your hubby)...and our school aged kids?

This might just be one of those dumb ideas and everyone will say "no way!". But, I, for one, would LOVE to take a villa vacation where I know my daughter will have playmates in the same villa and the moms and I can enjoy without being playmates to our children. I imagine parents of multiple children might not be so interested, since playmates are built in.

Plus, when we go....I always pay for the entire villa (even when other adults go - since they cry broke). I would love to rent a really nice villa and split the cost up.....like a $8k /wk villa split over 5 bedrooms. I'm tired of paying for the whole thing!

I do know some people who would like to rent lux villas, but their children are not close in age to mine...and they're married couples who would never go alone.

I won't feel offended if nobody is interested. But, I figured there are a few single moms on here who might appreciate this niche opportunity. If you don't feel comfortable posting on the forum, feel free to PM me.

I am talking about a really nice villa. Something with a big pool and fantastic bedrooms for everyone - a real treat for us all. I'm thinking kids under 12 (al least, for the house I want to be in - but moms of teens can arrange their own house, if desired). I was also thinking that we can take turns cooking dinner in pairs of two - or hire a chef to cook dinners. A chef might be overkill if at least half of our group is under 12. Restaurants are probably less important on this one - but others might feel differently. I'm ok either way - eating out or at home.

Anyway, just rattling off my thoughts. I hope this tickles the fancy of a few nice ladies on here!

Blu,

I would be so in, unfortunately, the coffers are low on funds. I know my 13 year old would be in!

When I win the lottery and buy that big house on Peter Bay, you are all invited. Especially if you like to cook. 🙂

Great Idea!!

I'm in. I think my daughter would love your's, Blu. Carey is 16, an only child, and loves children. She is a tweener with her family because of our age difference, so she's used to having lots of time with either older or younger kids. I heard/shared your pain with your daughter trying to make friends with NY'ers - My parents moved to Delray Beach Florida when my daughter was three. Delray is about 95% ex-New Yorkers. We've had our fill!! They moved back last year, and our vacation weeks are now up to our imagination rather than family obligations!! This trip to St. T is our first after their move north. My hubby is a CEO - not prone to vacation, but very supportive. (Maybe that's too much info. but I have alot of catching up to do).

Blu - just sent you a PM before I read this. It would have been a great idea, but we're staying at the Marriott for 4 nights and elsewhere (cheap like Emerald Beach!) for the remaining 3 nights. None-the-less, we'd love to hook the kids up at a STJ beach a few days! I have a 8 yr old girl and a 10 yr old boy, and I WAS a single, divorced mom for awhile (2nd hubby and I have been married 3 yrs). Keep me posted!

I could recuit one of my neices for a trip! I'll take any excuse I can. (Maybe I'd even ask her mother if she'd like to come) then again, maybe not.

Ok im back under my original name, and the name im keeping. I posted under Becky but this is my signin.

Bluwater the idea is great if we could get a right number of people to get in on this, and also if the money could be collected from everyone. Another idea would be just to get small places and stay by yourselves but get together thruout the day.

I like the villa idea, more fun this way! Coffee in the morning and relaxed conversation after a day at the beach~!

A few of us Moms got together twice without the children and stayed on a girlfriends fishing boat. First time in STJ at Honeymoon, fished to and from and only for one night. We enjoyed ourselves so much we did again! The second time we stayed right in the bay at Magen's. I slept up top with a canopy above and mostly open to the stars! We skinny dipped, brought a dish to pass for dinner and had drinks and conversation! It was delightful!
