Hello, can anyone recommend which shore excursions are the best to consider? Cruising to St. Thomas on Carnival in April this year. Any help would be great, this is all overwhelming! First time to the islands, thank you, Debbie

Hello Tomko2,

Thank you for your comments about the web site and board! I have been to Water Island often and seen the bike tour but have never done it. Water Island is a quiet little island and Honeymoon is a pretty beach. The bike tour is a good choice if you enjoy the outdoors and biking. If you are going to do a scenic tour and Magens Bay - you can very easily do this on your own without the cruise ship group (unless you want to be with a large group of course.) Other fun options include renting a car and driving around, beach hopping yourselves, perhaps doing a sailboat charter for the day and sailing to St. John for some beach time and snorkeling. Have a great time.

Hello Debs,

Mini boat adventure; do you have any other details about it - I am not familiar with that one but with more details I might be able to figure out which it is (some ships call the same trip different names). Another option you might consider since its your honeymoon is to take a private day sail with a 6 pack (only takes 6 people; and you could book it just for the 2 of you alone); tell the captain its your honeymoon and see about getting them to pick up some champagne for you - sail to St. John, snorkel, enjoy lunch and champagne... great day. If you want to get golf in you would have to do a half day sail regardless of which one you do with the cruise ship or on your own. I don't know how long it takes to play the course... you might contact the golf course pro shop and ask this question so you can figure out if golf and sailing is possiable. Here is the web site:

Hello Islander

You are my wealth of information so I am hoping you can help me find something that isn't booked. I have waited until the last minute and things aren't looking good. I am taking your suggestion about a day sail... I have concluded that ST. Thomas/St john is our best bet for the best snorkeling instead of St. Marteen. I tried to book with Winifred but they were booked... I emailed [email protected] for another excursion but haven't heard back from them. Winifred told me to contact Ron and Carol who own a Yacht called Alaunt. I am just wanting something special for my husband since it's his first cruise and I want a memorable snorkling dive for him. Any suggestions?

Hi, Debs - Ron and Carol are good friends of mine and a lot of fun to be around on day sails. You and your husband would more than likely have the boat to yourself for the day and can pretty much call the shots of where you want to go, see, etc.

The boat at info@treetops is more of a planned excursion along with other people and the cutest performing dogs you have ever seen!

Just a little info on the difference. If I can help, email me.

Pamela

Thank you so much for the information. I haven't heard anything back from Ron and Carol yet. I have emailed them and a note was sent to them from Winifred as well. How can I reach them. Do you have any idea of the cost? I don't know anything. Thank you

Debs,
They are off to the Wooden Boat Regatta with, oddly enough, the Captain of Winifred aboard for some fun. Just left a message on thier machine to check thier email. You may want to call 340-771-8044 and leave a message. Don't know the price but it must be affordable as they are doing very well this season.
Have fun.

Islander, thanks so much for your help. We'll likely take the bike tour (next Jan) and send some feedback to your site for others.
Cheers

I think you'll find most beaches have some sort of covering, usually in the form of sand. Some beaches do bare a bit of stone, but normally this is below the waterline.

Not quite the answer you were looking for?

Near the top of this page there's a link called 'Search'. Click the link and then type in the word "nude". Hit enter and I'm sure you'll find an answer more to your liking.

Hello Gary,

Nude bathing at beaches is illegal in the USVI. Additionally being bareback or wearing swimwear outside of beaches/pools (ie. in town) is taboo.

You can go topless on any beach in the VI. I, however, cannot.

Hello Gary,

The laws don't allow nude or partially nude (topless) bathing on beaches so no its not allowed. Some women go topless at sparcely populated beaches - take a chance based on the number of people on the beach when they are there... but its not permissable so there aren't any designated "nude or topless" beaches.

So many choices. Try Bolongo Beach Resort - beautiful beach but not the best for swimming and snorkeling. Great restaurant. Secret Harbor is a great resort with a great beach good for snorkeling and swimming but more expensive than Bolongo. Sapphire is great. Or you can go with villas - for a good price try www.stthomasvirginisland.com
