Hello, can anyone recommend which shore excursions are the best to consider? Cruising to St. Thomas on Carnival in April this year. Any help would be great, this is all overwhelming! First time to the islands, thank you, Debbie

Sometimes or most of the times the cruise ship has excursion to offer. I think the good ones are the sailing trip to St. johns or other islands which would have other activities to enjoy along the sailing trip. St. thomas is known for the shopping experience and that could be an all day event if you enjoy shopping. A island tour and beach trip is nice. My favorite beach is Coki Point Beach next to Coral World that a nice facility to see and lear about sea life. Magen BAy beach is also nice, but gets all of people off the ships.

Have fun and enjoy St. Thomas 🙂

Hello Debbie,

You have lots to think about; do you want to do a cruise ship excursion or something on your own? Are you traveling with a group or with kids? What sounds interesting to you - beach day, shopping, taking a sailboat and sailing to another island, snorkeling, having lunch on the boat.... there is lots to do - give us some idea of what you might like and then we can make suggestions that would fit what you have in mind. Take a look at the beach guide and attraction guide on this site for St. Thomas and see if any of what you see and read about is of interest.

Hi, thank you for your suggestions. I am travelling with my sister-in-law and my teenage daughter. I have an interest in snorkling, I did hear that St. Thomas has beautiful places to do this at. Can you recommend any place in particular? We only are at St. Thomas for not even a day, so will probably do the tram lift and perhaps a little shopping as well. Thank you for your thoughts, Debbie

Hello Debbie,

Take a taxi from the pier to Coki Beach, rent some snorkel gear there and you guys can do some snorkeling there. Then take a taxi from Coki Beach to Paradise Point for that. If you have more time you could do a short island tour between Coki and the Paradise Point tram. After the tram you can do some shopping right there at Havensight (walking distance from the Paradise Point entrance and where most ships dock).

Have a great time.

Hi,

I was just in St.Thomas 3 weeks ago and did an excursion with Godfrey. He picked us up at the pier and we did some shopping downtown,2.5 hour tour of the Island and 2 hours at Coki beach were we did some snorkling. All for $20.00 a person. He was wonderful.

Have you considered St. John? We cruised into St Thomas two years ago in April and took the red hook ferry to St. John. We then hired a taxi to take us to Cinnamon bay. This beach is unbelievable, wild donkeys, great snorkeling and best of all, not crowded. We had a wide age group (from 10 to seventy) everbody loved it.

take the red hook ferry...it's a quick scenic ride in a taxi and shorter ferry ride to st john.

HI Debbie,

We were a group of 24 people from Ontario Canada and booked this tour because I had heard so many wonderful things about him. I mentioned this to the rest of our group and we all booked. It was the best excursion we took that whole week. Everyone agreed. He was GREAT. He changed the schedule around a bit because there was 8 ships in port that day. We spent over 2 hours doing the tour then 2 hours at the beach of our choice and then shopping. He usually does the shopping first then the tour and then the beach. Well worth the $20.00 that you pay at the end of the tour. Here is his website. http://www.godfreytoursvi.com/ if you have any questions don't hesitate to email me at [email protected].

Hello Tom,

Your question is a popular one - there is a comparison of time, cost, ect on this site of the two ferries - that should help you make your decision. Its at the bottom of

https://www.vinow.com/general_usvi/cruiseship/cruiseguide_page1.php

You could walk to the Charlotte Amalie ferry from Havensight but its a farily long, hot walk... maybe 30 minutes. A taxi would be $3 per person.

We are doing a Celebrity cruise later in March. They offer a bike/hike excursion to Water Island and Honeymoon beach. Anyone ever been there? Is it a nice place? It looks like it might be a bit less populated, but would like to know more. Thanks.

Hello Maribeth,

Water Island's population as of the 2000 census was 161 people!! Very small island, very quiet, quite nice. Honeymoon is a pretty beach and a lovely place to cool off after biking around Water Island. I have been there so if you have other questions feel free to ask! Have a wonderful cruise.

My congratulations to the keeper of this site - excellent info and management.
My husband and I will be part of the horde of cruise passengers next winter (January); we are thinking of taking an excursion to Water Island which includes - ferry ride, cycling and beach break at Honeymoon Beach. Has anyone taken such an excursion and if so, how was it? Our second option is to take a short scenic tour and then go to Magen's Beach. Views most appreciated.
Many thanks.

I am cruising to St. Thomas on the Caribbean Princess June 5. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the Mini Boat Adventure and Beach Getaway? My husband and I love to snorkel and it sounded fun. I want my husband to have a great time because this is his first cruise and it's my 4th. I love it and I would certainly love to keep cruising. This is our honeymoon so I am looking for a great time. :0) He is also a golfer so could we possibly get a little of that in too. Any recommendations. I of course love to shop but unfortunately he doesn't. I have already shopped in St. Thomas so I think I will try St. Maarten this time.
