I will be in STT over Labor Day weekend for a short "girls trip". We would like to do some shopping. I noticed on the cruise schedule that there will be no ships in port on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Will this affect the shop's opening and closing times? Will all the shops in town and the flea market be open? Any info appreciated!
Thanks.

The schedule is located at www.vinow.com/general_usvi/getting_here/usvi_cruise_ship.php

I agree with no ships meaning less crowds, but I do hope things are still open!! We had planned on doing most of our shopping on Saturday. Does anyone know if this will work given that no ships will be in port. At least the beaches will be enjoyable.

Last year when we were there the hours on Sunday were limited like you said. They opened late, closed early and some were not open at all and that was with a ship in port! Hopefully the majority will be open Saturday.

Hello,

I agree... don't wait until Sunday. Sunday is usually a shortened shopping day for downtown stores... usually 1pm or thereabouts when there are ships in and some smaller shops don't open so without ships, being a holiday weekend and off season you can count on limited shopping on Sunday for the weekend in question.

The two main shopping areas on St. Thomas are Havensight (where the ships dock) and Charlotte Amalie (downtown). Havensight's store hours are directly related to cruise ships being in port regardless of the day of the week.... if there are ships they are all open... if there are no ships folks take a day off and close shop. So for Havensight there will be some stores open and some not on those days.

Downtown shops should be open regular hours on Friday and Saturday.

If you are visiting the East End... there are a few neat shops there in the Red Hook area. Also if you head to St. John; unique shops/boutiques there to enjoy.

Happy Shopping.
