Probably, your best bet for shopping is to walk around Christiansted. Perhaps a local knows of some out of the way store.

Up Island has some fun clothes - they're underneath Tutto Bene just east of Christiansted. Pacific Cotton on Strand Street in C'sted, Hot Heads in King's Alley and Quiet Storm on Company Street also spring to mind, I know I'm forgetting others. Oh, Cruzan Carib in the Pan Am Arcade has clothes of all sorts but be prepared to paw through a mound of stuff in a small space. I'm not sure it has stuff that a teenage girl would want, but you never know. High end bathing suits might be on sale in the $30 range.

Bassman's advice to spend some time wandering around Christiansted is right on - there are many shops and art galleries, and they can probably refer you to other places too. Be sure to check out the Mitchell-Larsen Studio on Company Street http://www.janmitchellcollection.com/. I'm not quite sure what you're looking for in metal work, but Tesoro (on Strand Street and conveniently next to Pacific Cotton) might have some items of interest.

In any case, I don't think you'll be disappointed with what you find, even though the selection may be more limited than St. Thomas - I can always find ways to spend money 😉

Hotheads in King's Alley Walk is also a great store with a large variety of islandy clothes. Also check out From the Gecko, 1233 Queen Cross Street. For the more budget conscious: the Purple Papaya Giftshop in the Pan Am Pavilion. Check out this webpage to read about these stores: http://www.gotostcroix.com/shopping.htm
Happy shopping!

Oooo, I forgot about From the Gecko http://www.fromthegecko.com/ - excellent suggestion!!! Purple Papaya and Cane Bay Dive Shop (in the Pan Am Arcade) are also good lower cost suggestions. And I've bought some cute stuff from The Coconut Vine on Strand Street.

I just remembered some really nice items I've found at really reasonable prices at Omega Rising on Queen Cross Street.

If you check out the map in the middle of St. Croix This Week (known locally as the "pink book" and available on-line at http://www.print2webcorp.com/news/virginislands-sc/splash.asp ) you'll see that nearly all of these places are within a block or two of each other.

Happy Shopping! Please post a trip report!

Alas, Beaden has closed (sniff, sniff). Deborah Broad decided that it was time to move on and has gone to Arizona. There is another store/gallery in that space, but its focus is primarily teaching classes.
