I have read alot about hiking, snorkeling, etc. but nothing about finding any sea shells. Are there any on the beaches on St. John???

I believe it is 'illegal' to remove shells from the beaches of STJ, although I am certain many do it.

Yep. Illegal to collect shells from beaches in the USVI, not just in VINP. They can be--and sometimes are--confiscated by customs.
