Flying into STT on 12/9 at 210. Looking for someone to share a cab with Rachel. Going rate is 50/pp, but it drops to 25 if there are two people.

where are you going?
cab fares are set by the government.
there are no $50 cab fares to anywhere on the island unless you are doing a private tour

Incorrect, Taxi drivers are permitted to provide PRIVATE taxi service to wherever from wherever. If someone is arriving at the airport, for instance, and traveling to Red Hook but doesn't want to share the van with other passengers with the inevitable stops along the way, it is perfectly legal for a taxi to make those arrangements at a price.

Gosh STT Resident,
Guess you are right. My apologies. I didn't get the idea this was an expedited or PRIVATE service question. I thought it was just a general question about taxi sharing.

No apology necessary! The extra expense is worth it if you're on a very tight schedule (i.e. if you're trying to catch a last ferry out of RH) or if you're a family with children and baggage, etc. but otherwise the regular system works perfectly well and is a lot cheaper. Cheers!

Using the regular cabs with everyone else works just fine and is relatively inexpensive.
