The difference in this War ( stretch to call it that) and WWll is that our politicians have made this a political war. We ARE NOT fighting to win. That is shameful. We are using our young people as political toys. The Dems did it and the Reps. let them. Our elected officials stink.

Sometimes I wonder if our real enemies are each other. It really seems that way.
I ask God's blessing for our country everyday, and for the wisdom, honesty
and strength to be a light not only to the world but, to ourselves.

There were no Iraqi's on those hijacked planes. They were mostly Saudi's.
Bin Ladin is a Saudi. The Saudi's are known to fund terrorism.
Saudi Arabia is not a democracy. It's monarcy is the
richest in the world. They hold the strings of oil production tightly to their advantage only.
How convenient for them, that not only did we come to their aid during Desert Storm against Sadam,
who was a hated enemy of theirs, we did them a great service to be the ones to once again step up
to take him out.
Iran is also a hated enemy of the Saudi's, so what's next??

What if they gave a war and nobody showed up??

Connie,
Dubya will not go away quietly as his disastrous term comes to an end. I think most believe Iran is the next target on Bush and Cheney’s to-do list. Kristol, the equally insane Ledeen and all his Neocon, warmongering pals are pushing the White House at every moment to make the attack happen. Read this madness: http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=N2Y5YzI1YmM4ZDhkMWQxNzg4MDVjZDdjM2VhNDhhMTA=

I'm sorry, but if I was sitting around with my friends, out on my deck, this conversation would come to a quick end.

Bless our soldiers, but please people end this thread.

I'm done.

Actually already read it. Good read actually. I'm sure you'll run out and buy Ledeen's new book so that you'll be fully informed. Certainly will balance the Move On information, don'tcha think.

Promo,
Don't follow Moveon's site so can't help you with that one but think that I read they are posting a petition to submit to other stations so they will not follow Murdoch's beating the drums for war with Iran using the exact same images and Bush talking points that were used before Iraq.
Haven't read the "General Betray Us" ad in total either but seems the Republicans believe it's unacceptable for an outside group to impugn the integrity of a war veteran with fallacious attacks. But why does this sound vaguely familiar? Suddenly they are up in arms over an ad that questions the bias Petraeus has shown when they turned a blind eye in 2004? The troop reduction suggested by General Patraeus will only bring us back directly to where we started at pre-surge troop levels. The entire rationale for the Bush Iraq strategy went south when General Petraeus said "I don't know" when asked if that Bush's Iraq war strategy made us safer. Media is falling all over itself to report that Bush is going to endorse the Petraeus plan tomorrow night in a BIG speech. Of course, he is. It's Bush's damn plan. And, the big plan is nothing more than "reducing" the number of troops to pre-escalation levels in 9 months. That's a plan? That's a scam. Admiral William Fallon, chief of the Central Command (CENTCOM) and Petraeus' "boss," derided Petraeus as a sycophant during their first meeting in Baghdad last March, according to Pentagon sources familiar with reports of the meeting. Admiral William Fallon, chief of the Central Command (CENTCOM),Fallon told Petraeus that he considered him to be "an ass-kissing little chickenshit" and added, "I hate people like that", the sources say. That remark reportedly came after Petraeus began the meeting by making remarks that Fallon interpreted as trying to ingratiate himself with a superior.

Of course once the Iraq Oil Scam is accepted and passed by the Iraqi's we might see the war ending rather quickly ...
Under the proposed law, Iraq's immense oil reserves would not simply be opened to foreign oil exploration. Amazingly, executives from those companies would actually be given seats on a new Federal Oil and Gas Council that would control all of Iraq's reserves. In other words, Chevron, ExxonMobil, British Petroleum and the other Western oil giants could end up on the board of directors of the Iraqi Federal Oil and Gas Council, while Iraq's own national oil company would become just another competitor. The new law would grant the council virtually all power to develop policies and plans for undeveloped oil fields and to review and change all exploration and production contracts. The big British and American companies had been shut out of Iraq, thanks to more than a decade of U.S. sanctions against Saddam. But if the new law passes, those companies will be the ones reviewing those very contracts and any others. We are finally on our way with that one with Texas' Hunt Oil Co. and Kurdistan's regional government saying they have signed a production-sharing contract for petroleum exploration in the Kurdistan region of northern Iraq, the first such deal since the Kurds passed their own oil and gas law in August. Hunt happened to be appointed finance chairman of the Republican party and happens to be on the board of SMU trustees. Where is Dubya's "library" gonna be located?

As it is said, "FOLLOW the MONEY"

Much as I hate to extend this thread and its vitriol, there really have been some funny, in a tragic sort of way, lines, both in and out of context..

"Now that's a concept I've never understood."

" ... our troops who fight so bravely for the freedoms we enjoy in America!"

"And your ability to understand the current enemy is also amazing. Thank goodness they are there to protect you."

"Now that's a concept I've never understood."

"You say this is George Bush's pet war. That's the most unadulterated statement I've heard yet!"

"The Dems did it and the Reps(sic) let them."

"Now that's a concept I've never understood."

-------------
"Steel drums still ringing in my head. I feel pain so I know I'm not dead."
