*I am arriving on a cruise ship at St Thomas with a total of 9 people and would like to see the island of ST.John as well as spend some time on Trunk Bay Beach. Should I hire a private taxi to do this and can you refer me to any along with a general price? Is it easy to get from the cruise ship to the ferry or should I get the private taxi from St Thomas?
Thank you

Check with your cruise ship's schedule of excursions for STT. There may be a few that would suit your needs.

The ferry from CA to STJ is not far from the cruise docks. If you don't want to walk, the taxi will be very cheap. Once on STJ, the taxis can take your group to Trunk Bay. People do this all the time and special charters are not really needed unless you want persanal attention from start to finish.
As Marty suggested, your cruise ship may have arrangements in hand for the normal service charge.

Debbie,

My wife and I stopped in St. Thomas on a cruise in 2001. We rented a jeep and drove around St. Thomas and St. John. The views from the north side of both islands are AMAZING! If you rent jeeps (only about 4 people per jeep), you could do Trunk Bay and Coki Beach on St. Thomas.

Trust me when you get to dinner on the cruise ship, you're going to hear people gloating about all the fish they saw at Coki. I know, I had to put up with it!

But to be honest, Chris has a great idea (maybe even better than mine) that would be a lot of fun and perhaps a lot cheaper. Those of us who frequent this board looking for vacation tips owe the locals a big debt of gratitude.

John
