Hi Paul,

I've stayed at both and liked both properties. Sapphire has more things going on all the time, but Secret Harbour is quieter. Sapphire has a pretty beach, but so does SH....the water is calmer at SH and the snorkeling (IMO) is better. The restaurant at SH is far better than that at Sapphire. The Sunday beach party at Sapphire is a lot of fun. The beach bar at Sapphire is much larger than that at SH.

Both resorts offer beachfront units that are literally right on the beach. Personally I think the units at SH are larger and better appointed.

Both places are nice and I'm sure you'll have a great time at either one. If both were the same price, I would opt for Secret Harbour.

Schultz

Paul,

Never having stayed at either resort - I can not comment on the rooms and facilities. Schultz has stayed at both so can better share opinions on that.

As for the beaches - swam, snorkeled, ate, lounged at both, attended the Sunday party at Sapphire too. So as for those opinions - I like swimming at Magens Bay better - :-). Sapphire gets deep quick and is often less calm however I prefer swimming there then at Secret Harbor. Secret Harbor has a bit of rocky area when you are getting in - I don't like that - but other then that its great (obviously I am spoiled when it comes to beaches - LOL, a couple rocky areas with crystal clear water and I pick on that.) The snorkeling is a little better at Secret Harbor. Drinks are good at both, I like the bar atmosphere at Sapphire better. The restaurant at Secret Harbor is better, the one at Sapphire was buffet when last I ate there - not sure if thats all the time or just the day I was there. Both beaches are small, Secret Harbor has hammocks which is neat - nice spot to relax under a palm and read. I don't think you can really find solitude at either if you want that in a beach (particularly if its high season - if its low season then Secret Harbor may be a little bit quieter then Sapphire) - or unless its early am or pm - which you will get at both if you are staying there - there are rooms at both that are beach front. Both have a watersports booth/rental... I think Sapphire has more things though (jet skis, kayaks.... if that interest you)

Tell me what you want in a beach and how many days you think you will "play" on that beach as opposed to hopping to other beaches --- then I'll say which I think will suit you better 🙂

Hope that helps.

I had a reservation for Secret Harbor in March, upon arrival I was disappointed in what I was paying quite a bit of money for. The room, while clean, where dated in the look and from the bedroom you have an obscured view of the parking lot. Also our "Beach Front Room" overlooked the restaraunts service entrance. (Did you know that SH doesn't have daily maid service?)

While I am not overly picky about somethings, I am when it comes to spending a large amount of cash on a hotel room, and then finding out things only upon arrival.

Needless to say we moved to another hotel after only about 1 hour, and at the other hotel we wound up in the best possible situation. Good food, great service and a very nice room with a view you really had to be there to appreciate.

Jon - what hotel did you move too?? How was it there - that way someone whos staying at that hotel can get your review of it as well since its sounds like you liked it there.

What beaches, activiities, restaurants did you enjoy and would you recommend??

Thanks
