Well I will start off saying this was my first time to St Thomas and I had mixed feelings about going. I had heard bad things about almost all of the hotels and resorts I had looked at, and I was not sure what we were going to end up with when we got there. After doing alot of research and listening to people on the board I took a leap of faith and booked at the Secret Harbour beach resort even though I had heard alot of people trash it. Well I will say I think I made the RIGHT choice !!!!!! I really do not know who the snobbish, obviously spoiled people who must think they are deserving of being treated like royalty people are who posted negative comments about Secret Harbour, but I can assure you if they did not enjoy themselves here then they are just disappointed with life in general and NO where would make them happy. That being said we arrived at the airport and rented a car from Thrifty. We were a little disappointed to find they were not located at the airport. But after calling they had a van there to pick us up in 5 minutes. We were gone while others were still waiting in line at budget. We got to thrifty got our car and headed for Secret Harbour. Upon arriving they checked us in quickly and had someone ride with us to our room to show us were we were and to help carry the bags to the room. Our room was on the 3rd floor room 433. It had a large bedroom, large bathroom, family room and Kitchen. It included a TV, am/fm cd player, all kitchen necessities including a blender for making drinks. And the best part was the very large balcony over looking the beautiful beach. We had a choice of 1st floor on the beach or the higher up room. I'm glad we took the higher room as the view was perfect. I could be wrong but judging by the other rooms we probably had one of the best views as we could see over the tops of the palm trees. The room served all of our needs perfectly for the entire trip. The beach was beautiful and they raked it every morning. There was NEVER a day, or even moment when you could not find a lounge chair on the beach. Snorkeling was great, maybe not as good as parts of Grand Caymen but we had alot of fun snorkeling in front of the hotel. Saw spotted eagle rays, and sea turtles, and tons of fish. Really could not ask for a better beach and there is no way you could find rooms any closer to the beach, litterally out the front doors of the 1st floor rooms. They also have a PADI dive center on site who were very helpful. I actually needed two more dives for my certification, and brought a referal with me and completed my Dive certification with them. We walked right in from the beach and did the dives in about 20 feet of water in front of the resort. Lastly they have one restraunt on site called the Blue Moon. All I can say was it was fantastic everytime we ate there. 1st night I had flank Steak with Crawfish sauce. I had never eaten flank steak and always figured it would be tough, it was actually some of the best meat I have had. It was tender and had a great flavor. We ate there a total of 3 nights and everytime we were more impressed. We at the filet Mignon on the last night and the fiancee says it was the best steak she had ever had. Not sure I would make that statement but I will say it was ONE of the best I have ever had. Another place we ate at with the advice of some locals was a place called Toads and Tarts. We went on Thursday for Prime Rib night. Prime rib was great, as far as the atomosphere I will have to say it was different. We ate in a little room that looked like a living room, and locals played checkers at the table next to us. This place was definitely a local place, as they say we were'nt in Kansas anymore!!!!!. Anyhow all in all St Thomas was a great place and we would go back in a heart beat!!! The low down on Secret Harbour is it is a beautiful quiet hotel, great rooms, right next to a beautiful beach, with a GREAT restraunt on site and a very helpful staff. If your looking for a beautiful relaxing vacation you'll love it. If your looking for a Ritz, or Marriott with elevators and 5000 people around you, this may not be for you. As far as a pool, yes Secret Harbour has one. What was it like? No friggin idea, why hike to the pool when you have a beautiful beach just a few feet from your room. I have some pictures of views off our balcony, and the beach and a few showing the inside of the room. Just for clarification, I live in Dayton Ohio and have NO affiliations with them. Just spent a wonderful week there. Feel free to email me with any questions.

Thanks for the report. We spent a few days at Secret Harbor at the end of our STJ vacation in April. While I would not pick STT over STJ for a vacation I did really enjoy Secret Harbor. Nice beach, rooms and good snokeling. Your report brought back memories!

Wonderful David!! I remember last month you were asking/concerned about the negative reviews you'd been reading about hotels on island. So glad you went. Thank you for sharing.

David, just a quick question - Does Secret Harbour have laundry facilities onsite? We're trying to figure out how much clothes to bring.

We're going in about 5 weeks - can't wait!

Thanks,

Debbie
