Has anybody used this sea plane from San Juan to St. thomas? Curious about your experience. Also what is the distance/drive time from the airport in San juan to the pier/port in OLD San Juan, where you catch the sea plane flight. THANKS.

Billy,
We used Airborne to go to PR from STT and back! I LOVED it and I don't like flying!!!! These planes are among the safest planes available and you get to see alot of the islands along the way! We were taking a cruise from PR so we didn't have to travel once we arrived in PR. Guessing 20 minutes? We're not too sure about that part! You WILL enjoy your flight, have your camera ready- they don't stop you from taking pics! 🙂

flounder and sherri,

Thank you both for your responses. Flounder do you remember how long the drive is from old san juan to the san juan international airport? I am trying to make my connecting flight back to the U.S. and wondering about the drive time. Thanks.

The seaplane ride is a blast.... Have used it twice between STT & STX. The last time was about two years ago and they only allowed about 30 lbs. of luggage per person. After that they charged about .50/lb for anything over the weight limit. It can be kind of expensive if you have a lot of luggage. It was very convenient with lots of departures throughout the day.

They are working on heading to North Sound on Virgin Gorda but the date they will start is still undetermined. Think that it was the end of April or May.
