*I'm planning on visiting the 1st of March to celebrate my 30th birthday and to look around. I'm on a shoestring budget. Also, I'm thinkin of makin the move. I have a friend who is RNin there, but can only stay with her for a night or two. I did find the hostil in St. John and found that I can take a ferry from St. Thomas for cheap. Although, I'm looking for the cheapest ways to get around on both islands. I don't care to go too far, but would like to explore as much as possible. I do not have a standard credit card...only a Visa bank/check card. I've found scooters to be an option, but no prices or requirements listed. I know that I will be visiting during the high season, which is unfortunate...since where I'm comin from we are in our low low low season. I'm in the hospitality buissness. I'm dyin to get away and would appreciate any information from anyone.
-Thanks

I met a man at Drake's Seat yesterday who rented a scooter, $50.00 day he told me was the cost. Just be careful driving!

That also would be the price of an econo car rental. Go figure!

Hello Angella, is your bank card a bank debit card or an atm car only?? If you don' t have a credit card to put down they will ask for a cash deposit/security but you can call and double check.

Requirements for scooters - you need a drivers license and there is an age limit (dont remember what it is though)

Hey Angella,

Scooters may be an option for you, but there are plenty of cabs and on STJ hitchiking is sort of accecpted. You will more than likely be able to get where you need to go on your budget. Make some new friends!

See ya & good luck,

does your bank card have a visa or mastercard symbol?

I ask because i also have a debit card, no actual CC, and it is accepted everywhere as a CC due to the symbol.

If it doesnt, check with your bank asap to see if you can switch to one that does have a symbol. I have had mine for 8 yrs, and never had a prob, unles the money wasnt in the acct! LOL
