The rental price for a scooter tends to run about the same as that for a compact car. Although I do see quite a bit of scooters zipping around and the folks on them have smiles on their faces and seem to be enjoying themselves. Good luck!

That doesn't sound like a good idea. You'll be better off renting a vehicle on STJ.

I'm getting the impression that you haven't beeen to STJ before. Roads on STJ are very steep and windey. There are some astonishing switchbacks. The roads get very slick when it rains (and it doesn't take much rain to make them slick). Traffic isn't very scooter-friendly. Some people think it is suicidal to ride a scooter on STJ. Also, the rental cost for a car and a scooter aren't much different.
If you do decide to go with a scooter, it makes sense to rent it on STJ rather than STT if that's where you're staying. Otherwise you're trying to haul all your luggage on a scooter. The number for Scooters in Paradise on STJ is listed above.

You're right, I haven't been to STJ nor STT. Perhaps it is a recommendation to rent a scooter in STT and cruise around the island than STJ? We want to make a day worth of sightseeing an island with scooters....We'll be staying in Cinnamon Bay campground, and knowing it doesnt need vehicles.
