I have read that Schooner Bay Market (St Croix) has gone downhill a little bit. I recall it as a nice somewhat upscale market compared to the alternatives. Anyone care to comment?

It had some issues about a year ago, but its back and as good, if not better than it was. Pretty expensive though.

Yeah, they are a little on the high side but we stay in Shoys and it is close. Just like at a 7-11, you pay for the convenience...

Schooner Bay Market is located at #1 Estate Mount Welcome. Head east out of Christiansted on East End Road (the only road heading east out of Christiansted!) Drive approximately 1 mile and look for Canegata Tennis Courts and Ball Park on your right side. A little farther down on the left side is the entrance to our parking lot and store. It is easily visible from the road.
(I stole this description from their web site)

Schooner Market is on 82 in Gallows Bay - just east of the road you turn on to head north to the Gallows Bay shops and restaurants. The day we were there (week before last) it was fine and they had a nice selection of things except the "to go" meals - we stopped later in the afternoon and they were cleaned out - must be a good sign that they are good.

The "hot food" section by the deli is great for a local-type meal. Ms. Patsy and her crew sure can cook! The service depends on the day and the mood...The salad bar is fresh and full of different choices, but inconsistent in the set-up time. I have to be at work at 10am and I never know if it'll be ready to go or not even started. Only real peeve is their produce. Needs LOTS of attention. Seeing green moldy berries for $7.00... NOT!
