We are staying at Sapphire Village in February. Anyone have any info on what the accomodations are like? How is the beach at Sapphire-good for swimming-sandy bottom? Any recomendations for nearby restaurants in Red Hook or elsewhere?
We can't wait to go..Haven't been there in 25 years. I bet there are a lot of changes. Is "For the Birds" still open at Scott's Beach? So many questions-so little time!
Thanks Sandy
Hello Sandy,
Ask away with all your questions :-).
There is a recent review of Sapphire Village - use the search option and look for it.
The accomodations vary because they have different owners. I have been in a few, and they were like little apartments, walking distance to the beach. Sapphire is good for swimming, mostly sandy, good snorkeling too, beach bar has live music on Sunday afternoons which is fun.
For the Birds is no longer...

Restaurant Azure, which is poolside at Sapphire Village, is by far the best food option on the Sapphire property! (IMHO, of course!) Red Hook has lots of restaurants from upscale (Off the Hook) to casual (Molly Molone's, Grateful Deli, Burrito Bay, Sopchoppy's...) as well as night spots like Duffy's.
25 years! WOW!! Yes, you will see a great number of changes! For the Birds has been closed for 10 years this coming fall.
