Going to St Thomas staying at Sapphire Beach Resort, any comments? I am looking for a very romantic resturant after my wedding for family and friends to eat. Where should we go? How are the crowds in June and July? Should we rent a car?

Hello Yvette,

Banana Tree Grill is a nice choice for the restaurant. June & July are off season so not much in the line of crowds. It is St. John Carnival time from June 4th-July 4th so on the days of events there are crowds in Cruz Bay St. John. So if you had plans to go there for a daytrip or dinner you might look at the Carnival event schedule, its posted as a Sticky at the top of the message board. Renting a car is a good idea, it allows you more freedom. If you don't plan on doing too much, mostly hanging out at the hotel then it might not be worth it to you. What are you plans, how many days on island?

yvette....congratulations!
You will LOVE Sapphire Beach!!
Hubby & I spent our 25yr anniversary there in Dec.
Yep...you'll need to rent a car. Sapphire Beach is about a 30min. drive from the airport...probably less, but we were unsure if the roads & gettign used to driving on the left while dodging potholes in the dark!!
The beach is beautiful, & quiet. There are actually 2 places to eat on the grounds, but not nice enough for a wedding nite dinner. We went into Red Hook for dinner....only a few miles from the resort.
We envy you both!! We are planning on returning sometime in November!Have a great time!!

We will most definetly rent a car. I a still looking for a nice resturant to go to after my wedding with my family. We live the States and I would like to go to a resturant that has quality food and a nice atmosphere. I would like to have soft music and a nice place for a family to enjoy. Any recomendations. I was told that Room with a View is to romatic for the inlaws. Any recomendations. The price is not a problem.

I would agree with the recommendation above of Banana Tree Grill for a romantic restaurant. Mafolie has an incredible view and last time I was there the background music was provided by a classical guitarist....very nice. I've never been to the Old Stone Farmhouse but always thought it sounds romantic. Another thought, closer to Sapphire Beach, is Agave Terrace at Point Pleasant. I had friends who went there every year for their anniversary but stopped after a not so pleasant dining experience. I really haven't heard much lately about this restaurant that used to be touted as one of the finest on the island. Does anyone have any recent experiences there?

I don't think you'd be disappointed with Banana Tree, but it's quite a distance (it's all relative, I know) from Sapphire.
