Well, 4 weeks just flew by and we still didn't get in everything we had planned guess we have to go back!!
Our routine is to stop at a grocery store before going to the condo, that way we have stuff for the next day & don't have to leave the beach.

Our little slice of heaven is at Sapphire Beach where this year we had a studio...we walked up 1/2 flight of stairs, opened the door to the most incredible site!! straight thru the condo is the sliding door to the balcony, the water view and the color takes your breath away...we looked straight out to St John where there was an all white ,tall sailing ship, all lit up!!! we could see Cruz Bay off to the right so maybe it was anchored by Caneel Bay?? we were later told that this is not a true sailing ship & was all lit up every night....who was that??

When our daughter & G'kids got there we tried not to fill up every day, so the only day to go to Magens was a 5 cruise ship day!! so we sucked it up, went early and were able to get our favorite spot, with a table and some trees for shade! it is fun to people watch!! I was not prepared to see the whole beach full!! We saw a large yacht motor in, close to the swimming buoys then an also large sail boat motored in, I had never seen them get this close. Pretty soon there was a commotion on the beach and people were standing up and pointing toward the water...there was a MERMAID swimming from one side of the bay to the other...she/it was the color of a goldfish,.....had flippers and her head covered . what was that?!!! we later heard that MTV'S Real World is filming on Hassel Island, could it have been them...if it was and they show the shot of the crowded beach, remember the cruise ship peeps! We love Magens and it is another whole different place if you can get there on a slow day.

The Soggy Dollar trip was pre planned & paid for...the 1st 2 weeks the water was choppy & it was very windy so I kept looking at the waves and the small craft warnings, yikes, did I really want to do this? we went out of Sapphire Marina on New Horizons II and it was a good day, the water was calm by then, no breeze on the BVI'S so it was hot, I don't snorkel but the rest of my family did and weren't impressed with the baths. The soggy dollar was our last stop, we swam in to shore and I thought WOW they have really expanded!! 1st thing was a bunch of beach chairs roped off and a guy renting them, I told him all the other beach chairs were free....he pointed to his left "Soggy Dollar down there!". A lot of bars & food places...we ran into a group of friends & they said they had waited 2 hours for the food!!! we turned around and went back down the beach to the real SD, which is basically a bar shack with a T-shirt place and restrooms! the whole vibe is different!! what next? paving paradice & putting in a parking lot!! I don't need to go back, BTW if you go, I lost a diamond hoop earring as the captain was pulling my life jacket off . that was an expensive trip!! and looking in from the water the REAL SD is off to the right!
I hope this is of some help

Sounds as though you had a good time!

That sailing ship was the "Roseway" on her way to her stateside homeport after spending a few months on St Croix.
