My fiance and I are going to get married in St Thomas this November. We will be staying at the Sapphire Beach Resort. Anyone been there? How are the accomodations? Heard the beach is beautiful... just as nice as Trunk???

Any hints/suggestions about getting married in St Thomas???

Thanks!

Jodi

The beach at Sapphire is GREAT. Snorkeling is good. Not as sandy and big as Trunk but you will love it. We stayed at the resort and it is great. If you want the name of a wedding planner email me.

My husband and I got married at Frenchman's Reef and it was wonderful. They have a beautiful gazebo on a cliff that over looks the ocean. You will walk down the stairs to it. They prepare the flowers, music, minister, cake, pictures, videos. You just need the dress and the groom 🙂 I stayed at the Renn which I love but they had their weddings directly on the beach which sounds romantic, but St Thomas can be very windy and they just werent as pretty as the Frenchman's Reefs'. I have friends stateside that spend tens of thousands of dollars and my memories and my pictures look better 😉

Congratulations! You have chosen a beautiful part of the world to marry!! My husband and I married on St John (Hawksnest Beach) this past March (2003). We took a vacation to St John last November (2002) so we could pick the perfect wedding beach - and loved them all.

After our wedding, we chartered a catamaran for our group (about 20 of us) that took us back to Red Hook. (We were on a cruise the week of the wedding). An island tour of St Thomas took us to Sapphire for snorkeling, but we were only there for an hour. Sapphire was pretty as well, and the resort was right there.

I posted a review 4/30/03 if you're interested. This link may work:

Sapphire is a great choice for a place to stay. The beach is beautiful. Trunk Bay is very different though - it is larger, doesn't have the resort there so gives a different feel... They do weddings there - however I think the spot is not the nicest... very windy almost all the time and just isn't as pictursque as some other spots weddings are done in the VI... Magens Bay although frequently used I think is a lovely spot, Frenchman's facilitiy is lovely as mentioned. I have seen pictures of a wedding at the Ritz and they were gorgeous... Renaissance is lovely also but also is a windy spot. All the best.

Definitely a personal thing.

Believe it might depend on how big a group you'll have involved in the wedding. But just my wife-to-be, myself, and a special couple who came on the cruise with us and were our Best Man and Bride's Maid (just the four of us) arranged our wedding through a local St. Thomas wedding planning group and we had a nice outdoor ceremony on the beach at Magen's Bay. A very lovely beach area and background - people see our photo and alway ask: " Is that a real background or one of those photo scenic backgrounds"? It is beautiful, and running off down the beach barefooted in our wedding apparel was a great way to start a marriage. We'll be there this Oct 8th celebrating our 5th anniversary.

Congrats! And may you have a wonderful life together.
