Now I'm so nervous after sitting here and reading some bad things about Sapphire Beach Village. What am I going to do???? This is our 30th guys and it better be good.

The unit I'm renting is in the St. Kitts building and supposedly all remodeled (he promised me) last year. I also want to at least sit outside on the patio. I know it's further from the beach, but that doesn't really bother us because we know that we'll be in the jeep most of the time, riding around and stuff.

Anybody have any suggestions?

You'll be fine as long as the unit isn't 308... Congratulations on your 30th Anniversary... we just celebrated our 32nd.

My wife and I stayed at Sapphire Village last year and enjoyed ourselves very much, Our building (Dominica) was at the bottom of the hill adjacent to the marina. St. Kitts is much higher up on the hillside, but has a nice pool and excellent views. You will still be close enough to walk down the hill to Sapphire Beach and enjoy everything at Sapphire Resort, as well. I think Sapphire Village is one of the best kept secrets on St. Thomas. It is very reasonably priced and close to everything. There are also a good percentage of full-time owner/residents at the complex with a very active condo owners association to keep the office staff on the ball. We will be staying there again for two weeks, beginning April 29th. One word of caution: beginning 2 years ago and continuing, all of the exterior structural I-beam is being replaced due to salt corrosion - one building at a time. You might want to check with the owner and see if St. Kitts is being re-habed at the time you are going to be there. It won't be uninhabitable, but there will be scafolding across the entire front of the building and construction noise during the day. Most owners offer significant discounts to renters for the inconvenience.

By the way Connie, here's the website for the condo we're staying at: http://st-thomas-condo.com . I've seen the website before for the place you're staying at - it looks awesome and I'm sure it is! RELAX and have a great trip!

Connie,
Our plans have changed and we will now be at Sapphire Village on June 3rd. I've been following the "construction thread" and I know you're concerned about noise around St. Kitts. I emailed the owner of the Dominica condo (Lucy's Jewel) where we're staying yesterday. Here's what he said,
"I just spoke with the Property Mgr. at Sapphire Village. His name is Randy. Saba and Dominica are both done with refurbishment. The next building to go under construction is the St. Maarten building which is across the parking lot from Dominica (on the side of our entrance). Randy thought that what might be going on is - the contractor just completed one of the other buildings and is in the process of removing scaffolding, etc. They are staging these materials temporarily in front of the Saba/Dominica buildings (between them and the marina). In short order they will be moving all of this to/around St. Maarten. (The contractors guys must have been just doing some prep. work.) By the time June rolls around, there should be no activity at all between our unit and the marina. If you have any other questions regarding construction/disruptions - you can call Randy direct at 340-775-6123. If Randy isn't there, just ask for Carol the office manager."
Note that he said the next building to go under construction is St. Maarten. If you look at my earlier post, I said that the last time we were there they were working on Saba (right next to our building). Even though there were workers there every day, the noise really didn't transcend over to our building in any annoying way. Conclusion: since they're not going to be working on St. Kitts while you're there, I wouldn't worry at all. As far as the comments people have made about deplorable conditions at the condo they rented, I agree with other posters that it strictly depends on the owner. One owner having a dirty condo should in no way be a negative reflection on the other owners. We looked at the website for the condo you're renting, and it looks great! Finally, the common grounds at Sapphire Village are extremely well kept. The pools and pool areas are very clean, the landscaping and grounds are well manicured, the office area and laundry room are are neat and tidy, etc. Everything has a well-kept appearance. This is no shabby operation, by any means. Hope this helps...

Does anyone have a map of the Sapphire Beach resort that they could share with me. I am renting a condo in the Crystal Cove building D and wanted to get a picture of the complex. My email is [email protected]. Thanks

We just got back from an 11 day stay at Sapphire Village 1/28/14- 2/8/14 and stayed in unit 308 in the St. Kitts building. Everything was perfect, especially the views from the deck. For views, St. Kitts has the best unobstructed views of Sapphire Bay, and Jost Van Dyke in the background. We got a super low rate on this unit and can't wait to come back.

In regards to the old post from 2006 by Mary Contrary on this particular unit, it seems that any problems have been corrected and we certainly could find nothing wrong with the unit or building. We understand that the ownership of this unit changed very recently and modifications were done in the kitchen and bathroom.

We booked this unit through Joy Stanley of Island Dreams Real Estate. She also was gracious enough to show us other units in the complex that were for sale. I would highly recommend using her for any short term rental or purchase on the island. She can be reached at 340-998-9651.

By the way, I left a whole bottle of coconut rum on the fridge, so help yourself....
