My wife and I and another couple recently took our first trip to St. Thomas and stayed a week at Sapphire Beach. While the beach and water are absolutely gorgeous, the resort itself was rough.

There is nowhere to get food or drinks except during the daytime, and only until 3pm or so, and then only from outside vendors who walk the beach. This is a good service to be sure, but there are two boarded up bar/restaurants onsite. If you want anything after 3, you are pretty much forced to either have stocked up in the room, or drive or take a taxi into Red Hook.

We talked to some locals who informed us that there is apparently some sort of litigation going on with the owners of those restaurants. Bottom line, this place has seen better days, and needs an infusion of capital or it will continue to decline.

I assume that whom ever you rented the place from told you about the situation. If they did not shame on them. A major condo renter has not changed there web page which shows it as a full service resort. This has been this way for three years. Shame on them. We live at Crystal Cove and get the same comment from many guests. Yes, there is litigation between the condo owners and the land holder. And the condo association is trying hard to keep up the property. And some units are simply beautiful while others need help. While it is a problem to go to red hook at lease there are some good deals there. Like happy hours etc.

But the best part of your vacation had to be sapphire beach. It is the most beautiful beach there is.

Hopefully this will get resolved this year.

We miss the night life and want the property to get better.

I know where you're coming from. I've rented at Sapphire for the past few years now. We say every time, "guess they haven't settled the case yet" Honestly we wouldn't stay anywhere else. The unit we have found from an owner is simply great the beach can't be beat. We love the location and have so much fun going down to Red Hook every night for happy hour or dinner. The whole reason we get a condo is to make our own breakfast and lunch. pick up supplies for the week and good to go. It is important that Sapphire not be advertised as a full service resort. From my experience units rented and owned privately tend to be a little more updated and kept up. Hopefully litigation is settled soon would love to see it fully functional.

But the way. The BEACH RUMOR is that the suit is resolved. But I have not heard anything from an owner that will verify this.
