Hi, We're planning a trip sept 17 thru 22 and have rented a condo and I'm looking for someone to tell me what a great time we're going to have? Anyone know anything about that area, what the beach is like. I also heard on court tv (the sad story of Adassa Rolle's death) there were 14 murders on St Thomas in 1 year! Any info on the crime rate/ areas to avoid? Can't wait to go and want to be prepared! Thanks SallyB
Sally-
Adassa's death was a case of Domestic Violence- so sad - much too common in this world. If you're worried about tourist murders, they're not an issue and shouldn't be of concern. I follow the crime reports and can tell you that unless you are seriously lost and find you way to the middle of a severely impoverished area in the middle of the night, you're pretty safe. I wish there was less crime in the territory. I wish disputes were resolved peacefully. I don't believe it's random and don't think tourists are in danger.
I blame the Gov't for failing to solve crimes and deter criminals. Any idiot can get away with murder down there. "Keystone Cops" is the term the Stateside gov't uses for the territory cops. They (most police there) have no pride.
Sapphire/Crystal Cove- you'll love it! Good location, amazing beach!
you will lve it there.. and sunday around 2 make sure to poke your head out and follow the sounds and go see a local band play and have fun w/ tourists and local alike
where can I find 'reasonable' monthly rentals. Prefer up by Sapphire area
Hello B Macdonald,
Are you looking for somewhere to stay for an extended visit or to live?
