I've reserved for a week @ Antilles Sapphire Beach during April. I understand that Antilles owns a few of the units @ Sapphire, and they are mixed in with the regular Sapphire units. Does anyone know if there are any other differences? Are the units in the same general condition as the ones run by Sapphire Resort? Thanks!

First are you sure you r staying at the beach resort or is it sapphire village? there is a difference there. If you are staying at the resort. I don't think there is much difference in the rooms. It looked like they replaced all the funiture in all the rooms this fall. and I havn't heard of any complaints as far as conditions of the rooms. If you are staying in the village that is a different story. All of units there are privatly owned and antilles is just the property manegment company. most of the units are very nice there with a variety of views depending on which building you r in. **IF YOU ARE STAYING AT SAPPHIRE VILLAGE VERY IMPORTANT*****
Get all your contact numbers before arriving. Sapphire village is not a hotel like the resort they do not have a check in desk. find out before you arrive where you are staying and who is gonna meet you to let you in etc... specially if you r arriving at nite or on a weekend. I see it weekly people arrive and have no idea where to go and what to do and waste hours tring to find out what to do. That is no fun after a long day of traveling and they usually end up very frustrated save yourself some trouble get all info before you leave . specially if you book from an online travel site like hotels.com or expedia etc.
enjoy your vacation and be sure to check out restuarant azure in sapphire village for a great meal and drinks!!

Thanks mcgee - I'm sure its Sapphire beach, I had a choice between the village, beach or crystal. But either way you have to contact them 48 hrs before so they can arrange to meet you - I can't check in the regular Sapphire beach desk. I was curious of the room conditions since it was less expensive thru Antilles for what seems like the same accomodations as the Sapphire beach resort! I will definately try out Azure, i've heard its great. Thanks again!

Did your Mom buy the unit from Harry Donner? I thought he owned A-207 at Sapphire Beach Resort and Marina? And B-206 and 7.

Isn't that a great place? He renovated B-206 and it is absoluetly phenominal. The stove and fridge did need some updating in A-207. Did she get a good deal?

Maybe I can explain some of the differences between Antilles and renting through the resort.

First the rooms. The resort tries to have all the units the same, so the view and location of the room may vary, but the condition of the rooms and the furnishings are all pretty much the same. Antilles does not do this, so each individual owner is on their own. Some of the units may have been recently renovated and in mint condition and some need some work.

Other differences- you have no access to the front desk by phone, you cannot be reached through the hotel switch board. You do not have access to the resort amenities either, which means the snorkel gear, windsurfer, boats etc are available only for a fee. This is also true of the chairs $5 per chair per person per day and the beach towels. You cannot charge to your room so must carry cash for the store, bar and restaurant. Maid service is available for an extra charge, and there is no one from Antiles on site in the event of an emergency or to answer questions.
The beach, which is great, is the same for everyone. Hope this helps,so there are no surprises.

Could you explain to me what the differences are between units that are A or B? Are they the buildings, or are they the floors? Which would be preferable? We are going with another couple, if I asked for A-207, do you know of a newly renovated unit close by?

Thanks again!

A is the first builing, closest to everything, bar, restaurant and the beach shack. 1's are first floor, which is nice to walk out to the beach, but I like 2's because you have a deck and privacy, and can leave your door open at night and have no worries, 3's are villa's with sleep 6 and are more $

You could check with Harry at www.resortvacationclubs.com and see if he has any availability in B-206. It's gorgeous!
