Okay, now that I've eliminated the Marriot because I want a big nice beach that I can walk right out to, I'm looking between Sapphire and Secret Harbour.
Both seem to have big, nice beaches...Secret Harbour beach looks a little more shaded which I might stray away from since our families are huge sun gods and godesses. Both seem to have good snorkeling, Sapphire I hear tends to get a big cruise crowd but we are also going offseason in May so I've heard that it won't be much of a problem?
So I guess I'm left comparing room quality, bar quality--we want a fun, resort bar to hang out at when we don't feel like leaving or need a break from the beach for a good rum punch--service, activity level, etc.
Any suggestions or opinions?
Thanks for any help!

Secret Harbor all the way....great restaurant, bar and overall atmosphere...
I had narrowed my choice to those same 2 resorts for our recent trip. I got a good deal at Sapphire so that's where we stayed, and loved it.
Great beach, good snorkeling right from shore, kids loved the pool, and the views from our balconies were unbeliveable. St. john and British VI.
We had no problems with beach crowding, but August is rather off season. One day there were 4 ships in port, and the beach was noticeably more crowded, but it was not a problem. The beach there is quite large. Several days there was 1 ship in port and several days there were none.
Good luck!
thanks does anyone know if secret harbour allows other people to use the beach....will it be crowded when the cruise ships come in!?
All beaches are open to the public but you really don't have to worry about it being crowded due to cruise ships. It is pretty secluded and private. I was just there 2 weeks ago and it was never crowded. Enjoy.

Ginger & Steve,
As was previously stated, the beach at SH is open to all. I did notice that there are now signs as you enter stating that the chairs and umbrellas are for guest use only. I've also got to say that when I was there last week, there were more people using the beach than I ever remember in my last six or seven August visits to SH.
