My wife(32) and I(37) are coming to St Thomas for 4 days 5 nights on the 14th of Nov. I've seen on here that the Old Stone Farmhouse has the chef's sampling menu. What other restaurants have that? I'd like to try some new stuff. (First trip) We are staying at the Renaissance and going to St. John one day. Haven't tried much seafood other than shrimp and lobster and would like to taste a variety but not waste a complete meal. Thanks for any other advice.

For sampling Carribean cuisine, every Friday night the Palms restaurant at the Best Western Emerald Beach near the airport has a Carribean buffet...along with a live steel pan performer. Not too shabby. 🙂

When you get off the plane and go into the baggage section you will see a rack of magazines. There is one called "Dining Out". I think it will be a help to you.

Hello Gary,

Lots of the hotels have buffets with different dishes... its a different type of meal though from a restaurants sampler menu like Oldstone has, but worth trying for the Caribbean flair - music, show, food... Bolongo had a nice one - not sure what night it is - maybe Wednesdays... Sugar Bay, Sapphire, Frenchmans, Elysian - on different nights. Like Mel suggested pick up the restaurant guide but also look for the yellow guide book - St. Thomas/St. John This Week - there is a section in that guidebook that list the hotels Caribbean buffet/shows. I have been to the Bolongo, Sapphire, and Sugar Bay shows and Elysians but a while back - and enjoyed it. Did the limbo contest at the Sapphire one - and when they asked me where I was from and I said St. Thomas - several other participants said OHHHHHH you cant participate and laughed... lots of fun. Even if the restaurants dont have sampling menus there are some great ones to go to like Blue Moon Cafe and Banana Tree... you might order several seafood appetizers if you want to sample different ones or go with something you are familiar with and have a great diner!! Might also try local food restaurant like Cuzzins in Charlotte Amalie.

Enjoy, let us know which you tried!!

WE JUST GOT BACK. WENT TO THE BLUE MOON CAFE TWICE. EXCELLENT. ALL THE SPECIALS ARE USUALLY FISH. ISLAND FISH. DIFFERENT FROM NEW ENGLAND. MY HUSBAND LOVES ALL KINDS AND REALLY ENJOYED IT THERE. DID NOT GO TO ANY BUFFETS SORRY.
HAVE A BLAST. WE LOVED ST. THOMAS.

Our trip got cancelled at the last minute!!! I had to go to the hospital for some test, so we are going to have to re-schedule for another time. Dang! , was looking forward as we have not been anywhere even close to something like this together. Had plans for Blue Moon, Old stone farmhouse, Banana tree, Craig and Sally's, Cuzzins, and Stone terrace in St. John. Rent a jeep for one day to travel, shop one day and just relax at the resort one day. This forum has helped a ton.........now have to wait another day. Oh well, give me more time to read the forum and get more ideas. Now, when to re-schedule??? lol Thanks everyone. Gary
