10 of us are coming to St. John from 2/25/09 to 3/4/09. We like to find a sailing trip that all of us can go on together. I am only finding sailboats for 6 people. Can anyone help me? We would like and all day snorkeling trip. Also, is it better to go to Jost and the Baths by Ferry because of customs? Or if it's better to sail we would need a trip for that also.

Thanks for any help you can give me. And can't wait to get to the blue water again!!!

You might try St John Connections in Coral Bay... they might be helpful letting you know which boats can accommodate a group of 10 for a charter. (Actually, I see by looking at their Web site, they have an office in Cruz Bay too...)

To do Jost and Virgin Gorda in one day from the USVI you will definitely need a powerboat - way too much distance involved for a sail.
For 10 on a daysail and snorkel you might look at www.stjohndaysail.com - they do groups that size.

For a powerboat excursion to the Baths and VG you might check out www.doitinstylecharters.com. I have heard they create a very nice trip. Cheers!

The best powerboat excursion for 10 persons, stopping at the Baths on Virgin Gorda, Marina Cay for lunchy, Diamond Reef for snorkeling and topping it off with an afternoon on White Bay on Jost Van Dyke (Soggy Dollar Bar), is either the Breakaway or New Horizons II out of Sapphire Beach Marina on St. Thomas. Both boats are part of the New Horizons fleet and I have been recommending them to my guests for years as the best organized, best managed and altogether most reliable operation in the USVI.

Call Captain Dave of "Oh Be Joyful Sailing" in Red Hook. He is one of the only boats who can take more than 6, but doesn't take 40 at a time (he does 2-16 I think). We had a group of 11 and had a BLAST! Everywhere he took us, we were the only boat there. His rates are also the lowest we found. Not to mention the best meal we had on St Thomas. Simple, delicious, fresh grilled food. Yummy. He's got a little dog Sophie who just makes the trip. His website is www.ohbejoyfulsailing.com. Good luck and have fun!

Hello Dahj,

Check the St. John Daysails page of the site; there are a few charters listed that accommodate 6+ passengers (and also a few that are 6 max).
