hello -- my first post *smile*
we are visiting st thomas next week. looking for any info/opinions/referrals on renting a sailboat for the week. we're experienced sailors & all and not into some high-class charter type of situation. actually, that's why we're headed down to st thomas. we'd like to live-aboard our boat in the region possibly this winter and are checking it out first.... we don't have anywhere set up to stay yet and it's be lovely to get a boat for the week. any info'd be appreciated. thank you.

Kyne,
Try VIP Sails - 340-776-1510. They will have a variety from which to choose. email me if you need more information.

Anyone on St John rent daysailors (16'-24') for the day or longer. My wife and I will be on the island for a week in late June. We sail but not really interested in a larger boat / cruiser or charter. Just would like to do some low-key sailing near the north shore beaches, snorkel, etc.
Thanks
GC

Unfortunately, you are past the six passenger limit for most private vessels and will have to use an "inspected" vessel which normally carries larger groups. Email me your dates, etc. and I can direct you to some of these yachts. [email protected]
or [email protected] (but I won't get it there until Monday).

If you're not looking to bare boat, I would recommend getting in touch with Peter/Dorothy Muilenberg about their sailing vessel "Breath". They are licensed to carry 14 (the largest sailboat ever built in the VIs). We sailed out of Coral Bay on May 21 over to Jost Van Dyke for lunch at Foxy's. Then on to Sandy Cay for snorkelling and a leisurely sail home. About a 10 hour trip and it was the best day of our vacation! I believe you can charter the boat for your party alone for a day for around $500 (includes snacks, drinks and soft drinks) which would be a great deal. Can't say enough about the quality of the boat, the crew and the trip. It was great!
