I have read not to leave anything unattended at the beach or in your rental vehicle. What do you do with money and driver's license when swimming or snorkeling?

You could get one of those thin plastic water safes. They should be big enough to hold cash, credit card, and a couple of keys.

You would just want to take care that it was securely fastened to you somewhere!

There are a lot of STJ beach veterans that post on this board, if you were just a couple alone, what precautions would you take?

I used one of the waterproof plastic holders mentioned above. They are available in several sizes and have a cord to go around your neck. I used a small one that held my drivers license, a credit card and a few bills. It was small enough to fit in the pocket of my boardshorts. If you have a car with a trunk, stuff in the trunk being out of sight is probably relatively safe. I left snorkel gear in the back of a jeep without any problems. However, I would not leave a camera unattended or anything else valuable. Jeeps have a lockable console between the front seats but I would not trust the lock to protect much.
