Has anyone camped at Cinnamon Bay? Is it safe to leave items in tents there, or is there somewhere to leave valuable (to us)items?
We're not bringing jewellery, ( or things like that, but will have some electronics like cameras, also passports) which would be convenient to leave in out tent while at the beach or showers.
Also, what about when we're at another beach snorkeling? Do we need to leave someone on shore? We'll have some money and some documents with us (drivers license, MC, debit card...).

It is pretty safe..but still a risk...Not sure what to advise since you have a tent and can't lock the stuff up..Do you have a rental car? Maybe the trunk to put stuff in? I would not leave money, cc's or electronics on the beach unattended...while they would most likely be ok, there is the off chance it could get taken..would it be worth it? I say better safe than having to deal with theft on vacation...

Hi 1020,

I can't answer about the safety of Cinammon Bay Campgrounds, but here's what we do at the beach.

We found a plastic waterproof container about the same size as the average man's wallet or a pack of cigarettes. About enough room for some cash, a few credit cards, keys, etc, but not overly large. Lot's of times they sell them near the sunscreen displays or in sporting goods stores. They have a cord so you can put them around your neck and because they are mostly filled with air and are waterproof, they float. We sometimes just bury ours discretely under the towel or blanket to keep it out of site.

Depending on the time of year you go, the beaches may not be that crowded. We go in June and many times share a beach with less than a dozen people that are fairly well spread out. It's a good idea to take precautions, but I've always felt safer there than on just about any beach in the US.

Have a great time!

WW

I have stayed at Cinnamon Bay three years running and have never had a problem with theft. However, I would agree with all the other posts that it is good to exercise some caution and discretion in keeping things out of sight. There are also small lockers (maybe 2x2) at the reception area at Cinnamon where we always left our credit cards and passports. Enjoy your trip. Janet
