We'll be in STJ this time next week! When on the beaches, how would you suggest we keep our money, car keys, etc. . . , especially when we're in the water.
Thanks
Kim
You can get these small waterproof containers to swim with. They hold credit cards, drivers license, cash, keys! Hangs around your neck.
Ronnie
Good idea Ronnie! I did this for years and it really works well. I also grew into another habit of discreetly burying my container in the sand right beside my towel and then marking it with a small stick. I did that for years and nobody ever messed with my stuff... and I never lost it either 🙂
The main thing to remember when going to the beach is... don't take more stuff than the bare essentials that Ronnie mentioned... credit cards, drivers license, cash, keys
Have fun!
Considering a trip to St Thomas. Last was there 20 years ago and stayed at, what was then, Limetree Beach. Crime was not a problem then. How is it now? Are the beach hotel areas safe?
Hello Joseph,
Limetree Beach Hotel is now the Bluebeards Beach Club; you can visit at
http://www.extraholidays.com
Yes the beach resort areas are safe; and the Beach Club area is often quiet and sparsely populated except for quest and time share owners.

Where can you buy these containers?
Thanks,
Shauna,
Try www.fishcards.com. That's where I got mine but they are also available at most dive shops!
Have fun.

We've been going to STJ for the last five years. All I've ever done is stuffed my wallet and keys in my backpack with my extra clothes for town. I've never lost anything. Of course there is always a first, but I've never given a thought. I did lose a pair of eyeglasses last year after diving into the surf with them on, but that was my own fault. So far STJ is a marvelously safe place to vacation. One thing I am cautious about is carrying too much cash with me. Most villas provide safes for your "excess valuables."
