MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM, Bushwackers! The best recipe is as follows:

1 OZ. VODKA

1 OZ. BAILEY'S IRISH CREAM

1 OZ. KAHLUHA

1.5 OZ. COCONUT RUM

1 OZ. CRÈME DE CACAO

½ OZ. AMERETTO

Blend with ice
Drizzle a daquiri glass with chocolate syrup
Top with whipped cream and cherry

The best Bushwackers we've found on St. John are at Shipwreck Landing. Morgan's Mango makes a mean one too. Any time I've had them in the states they are made with ice cream and are a cheap knock off of the real thing.

not true.. the best bushwacker's in the states would be at Hogs Breath in Key West. They DO NOT use ice cream, nor are they a "cheap knock off"

As above, but I add 1 oz. each Franjelico and Chococo to mine, too, and change the amoretto and rum to 1 oz. Just a touch better, IMHO. On top of the whipped cream and cherry, I add some chocolate sprinkles, too. What fun to make...and DRINK! Haha! Everyone's got a slight variation on their recipe, but they all taste great! Sometimes I use light rum instead of coconut rum...sometimes a nice Gosling Dark for a little punch...or a Captain Morgan for some spice. Lotsa room to play with these! Enjoy!

Never had the pleasure of going to Key West. I'm only saying that anytime "I" have had them in the states they were made with ice cream.

Did I stay at Point Pleasant? (not sure if you're talking to me or someone else :))

Yes, I did! Loved it! The room we had was a bit worn, no shower head, and extremely uncomfortable bed...but we really loved it there and would stay again (though we'd want a different room ;)). Loved the nature trail, loved how the steps to the rooms where rocks/boulders. Just loved the entire setting. It was very peaceful and quiet. There was a girl who worked at the activities desk and at the gift shop at Fungi's who was super nice (unfortunately we didn't get her name :()...she was very helpful whenever we'd ask questions. She was also the one who recommended we visit Leinster Bay/Watermelon Cay at St. John. Everyone we encountered at Point Pleasant was very nice.

And we really liked Sugar Beach! Before going, we'd read reviews about how small it was and how people were disappointed in it. We actually liked that it was secluded and quiet with no activity. It's a very gorgeous little beach...with the white sand and big black boulders. We went snorkeling off there a couple of times and saw lots of cool fish in the water. 🙂

I'm really missing the place.

Just returned from Point Pleasant. Loved it, too. We had a superior suitee in D16 (on the very top of the mountain) on second floor. WHAT VIEWS!!!! Our unit was lovely. Nicely decorated by owner, clean, comfortable. Nothing better than having breakfast on the large veranda looking out at all those islands. We had a car, so getting around was not a problem. You can park at various areas around the property so the mountainous walking isn't a big issue unless you really have difficulties. Getting to places is an adventure. Not many real road signs. Got off track a few times, but figured it out in no time. Found the Red Hook Market to be better stocked and more reasonable than expected. Brought a folding cooler bag and did the picnic, own drinks thing for lunch. Had a fab meal at Agave. Very romantic place, too. Fungi's was fun, but we enjoyed going off property for dinner. Check out Romano's (Italian) on the turnoff to Coki beach. A bit pricey, but well worth it. Service is outstanding, too. People were very kind everywhere. Our daughter had her wedding (and stayed) at the Westin on St. John. They liked our place better...but it isn't for anyone who wants a full service beach hotel. Can't wait to go back for a longer stay.

Ellen:

Agree with everything you posted!!!!

We liked it so much...we bought a unit (D-23). Top floor, top of the hill with a cathedral ceiling. We go there as often as we can.

We had room E-10. When my husband called to book, they said they were almost booked up and had no ocean view rooms left, so I guess we got what was remaining. :/

We took a walk up to the area where your room is, up by the upper pool..great views! And I think I got more exercise on my vacation that I do normally. LOL I'd love to be able to afford to buy a place there. First I need to win the lottery, then I need to quit my job so I'll have unlimited vacation time. 😉

If you go to their web site (www.pointpleasantresort.com) the featured unit (with the couple on the balcony) is our unit (they reversed the negative when printing the picture - it should be looking the opposite way). The posters located at P.P. have picture facing the correct way.

Oh, wow!!! Just wow! Great photos!

That's your unit? You lucky dog! Like I said, we walked up that way to see the views from up there, and they were amazing.

How wonderful to own one of those units. We're thinking about it, too. Maybe we'll be neighbors someday.

We visited P.P. by chance and just loved it!

We bought a few months later from an owner.
