Hello nellie

Congratulations on your anniversary. Of the 4 months you mention, June & July are best IMHO. Mid June to July 4th is when STJ Carnival gets going. August & September get into the summer hurricane season and weather can play a major influence in your stay even if you do not experience a hurricane.
Day sail or sunset sail charters are always romantic choices while you're there.
We enjoy staying at a villa where we can see beautiful sunsets.
If you are not into the villa side, Caneel resorts is tremendous but be prepared for the associated sticker shock. You can search this board for numerous options on villas and villa rental agencies. Prices range from the extravagant to utilitarian. There are also campsites if you prefer that option or are on a tight budget. Do not limit yourself to 'by the beach' selections as everything is within sight of water and STJ is small enough that a beach is only 5-10 minutes by car.

A lot depends on your accomodations budget but I think if Honey and I were just going down for a romantic trip, I would definitely want to stay at the Gibney Beach Cottage. Quaint, charming, lovely, pretty private and right on a gorgeous beach!

Try Estate Lindholm; very nice, beautiful surroundings, self serve cont. breakfast, honor bar, and great hosts...
close to town, as well as short drive to north shore beaches.

We have stayed at Estate Lindholm and loved it! Also try Gallows Point!

I'll also recommend Estate Lindholm, Mrs. Nyestreet and I will be visiting here for the 3rd time next month. Anniversary # 26. Besides the friendly staff what really sold me on the place was the HONOR BAR (I'm from New York). Lauren, the owner, is a real doll. Honeymoon and Soloman beaches are a 10 minute walk away, Cruz Bay even closer (although a tough uphill walk back). Rates are reasonable and sunset views are great. John

I would recommend the Coral Bay area. Less crowded and more laid back. Has some good restuarants and great uncrowded beaches. Also there are a lot of one bdrm villas to chose from. Some are very private and have great views. You might check Windspree (Windspree.com) and look at their villas. We stayed at Sea Spirit (which is not rented by Windspree) in early Oct and really enjoyed the privacy, not another house in sight!
There are a number of day sails out of the Coral Bay area too. However, it doesn't matter where you stay, you are going to love it.
