YIKES! We will be staying there for one night before we head to st john for a week next week! YIKES! Is an isolated incident, or is this area (around the airport/resort) typically a dangerous place? what about St. John? we did have safety/security concerns about renting a house in the middle of no where on the island. Yikes i say again!

You have no need to worry. This was an isolated incident by someone who was watching his movements.

Yes, not a tourist incident at all. Too bad it made the forum. This can happen anywhere....there are movies made about this type of thing.

Yikes, just have a good time. Yikes, don't worry about it.

I can see the movie in my head and remember the whole story line, but I am HORRIBLE at remembering names! I will ask my honey, he's good at the sort of thing! Great action movie, I enjoyed it and will let you know! 🙂

If the only thing you see in your head are movies you're in better shape then most folks. Me I play with my demons. Counselling in two hours.

Having stayed at and here recommended BW Emerald Beach dozens of times and holding reservations with full anticipation of using on our next trip, it is very disturbing to see a photo of a Blackhawk helicopter hovering over one of my favored places as part of a murder investigation. What is so disturbing is that there is little a reasonably savvy traveler could do or anticipate to have avoided the crime scene. Daytime, plenty of activity and and passersby, non-drug, seemingly low crime area-a totally atypical crime to my mind for USVI. Nonetheless it did occur just as another seemingly random murder occurred across the bay at Carib Beach a few years ago-maybe it's not such a low crime area.

This random crime will not deter me nor would I recommend that it deter you, ReyR. Do as I will do next time-check in within an hour of being off the plane, walk and swim the beach, get a rum punch from Sam, watch the planes (they don't go at night), catch the sunset, hope its a Friday to enjoy the West Indian buffet, and relax for an early (or not so early) start.

Nonetheless this is a very disquieting crime.
