We have pretty much decided to rent our car in STT and take it to STJ. Yeah I know if we have a flat or dead battery we have to take care if it ourselves but we feel that it will be worth the hassel of not having to take the taxi, etc to Red Hook. Anything major, either Budget or Dependible will come over for. So, if we were to get stuck or have a dead battery is there roadside assistance unrelated to the car rental places that will come out and give us a jump or get us unstuck or whatever? For a price of course. I fugured there must be because people do live there with their own cars. Anyone have any info on who to call if we needed that kind of service?

Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving

Thanks Ronnie. Are there any places in the phone book that we can look up when we get there so that we can carry a few phone numbers with us?

Thanks

Check the yellow pages at www.viphonebook.com

Be sure to read the addresses to be sure it is in STJ, though!

Funny. I never thought of getting in a van and being driven to Red Hook as a hassle. I do think of having to drive myself to Red Hook and deal with STT traffic as a hassle.

Nick,

If it were just me and my husband I would agree. But our flight leaves out of Portland Oregon at midnight and we arrive in STT 3 PM the next day after 2 plane changes. We have a 5 year old. So that means we are lugging our luggage and most likely a very tired and grumpy 5 year old out of the airport, into a van, to a ferry, to the car rental place, etc. Comparing that to getting right into a car with all of our luggage and not having to cart anything or anybody around until we reach our villa. It just seems less stress producing to us. Also we will be on STT for the last 2 days of our trip and we don't want to have to do all of the above all over again plus rent a second car. That all said, we'll keep our fingers crossed that we don't have car trouble on STJ.
