We are all U.S. Citizens traveling at Christmas-time and got my plane tickets through Travelocity. Since then the itinerary has changed a bit and a 1 hour connection on the way home at Miami has become a 45 minute connection. I've also read that proof of citizenship is required. Couple of questions for anyone who has _returned_ via Miami to the mainland on American Airlines:
1) is the citizenship check done at St Thomas or at Miami?
2) does the flight land at the regular terminal or at International?
Thanks.

Hi Erik,
The customs/TSA check is done in St. Thomas, so when you get to Miami it's thru the domestic terminals. I've found it to be quite easy (however, I won't go thru Miami for International flights...a total nightmare)

45 minutes for a switch in MIA is cutting it close but is entirely possible [provided that everything goes off and lands on time]...if you have checked baggage, don't expect to see it until the next day on STT.
Ventogt -- since this is a return flight landing in MIA the luggage would be leaving STT with them - possibly the short layover would then affect them for the baggage change to their final destination.

You are correct I didn't think about that it was the return...
