What Restaurants will be open on Thanksgiving in St. John? We just can't do the hotel buffet this year. 18 days and counting!

I would go out on a limb and say that nearly every restaurant will be open on Thanksgiving. Anyone not open would be giving away some serious business. That said. . . . CALL AHEAD NOW and make a reservation if you are planning on going out to dinner on Thanksgiving. You will not get a reservation anywhere if you wait until you get on island.

I agree, I would start calling now as 2 years ago I had a hard time finding somewhere open - we went to 10 tables but back then I think there were only 3 restaurants open - might have changed now. I know skinny's in Coral Bay is having Thanks Pigging - pot luck - all invited but the "restaurant" is closed.

If you REALLY wanna have a great time on Thanksgiving, then go to Skinny's out in Coral Bay. Thankspigging is a HUGE event! The whole community turns out for this party, there's a Regatta, horseshoes, music and EVERYONE brings food.

Last year this party drew over 300 people, it was GREAT. Alot of musicians come out, we had a blast last year playing music for the crowd after everyone ate.

This is really a great annual event and I encourage EVERYONE who wants something to do on thanksgiving to head out there. This is an all day event, starting with the Captain's meetings in the morning for the Regatta, and finishing up with a GREAT FEAST, good music and a whole lot of fun.

Well that sounds from Dylan like the definitive response where STJ is concerned. Cheers and have a great time!

Thanks for the advice. I would love it if the Lime Inn was open, but two years ago it was closed for the Holiday. And as for Skinny Legs, we met the owner on Thanksgiving 2005. He took our picture on the hill over looking Coral Bay. We then had a lite snack at a little restaurant across the bay that had a few shops surrounding it.

Looking for something in Cruz Bay.

17 days to go! Can't wait, it is paradise on earth!

I would either start calling around or make reservations at the Banana Deck Cruz Bay - my family and friends (16 total) ate there last year and said it was excellent.

The place you're referring to across the bay is AQUA BISTRO, and the lil complex it's in with all the shops is called COCOLOBA.

But for Thanksgiving, I would DEFINITELY do Skinny's. And if you get there early on in the day and meet folks, you can MAYBE hook up with someone for a sail in the Regatta, then back for the feast and the party.

Have Fun!!!!!

Sounds like a great party, but I will also be traveling with our kids who are under 12 years old. Not sure if they would enjoy.

I am checking out the Banana Deck. Is there anything open in Mongoose Junction? If all else fails, we just may end up at the Beach Bar!

JTILLS,

EVERYONE brings the kids to Thankspigging at Skinny's. They have a horseshoe pit and there will be all kinds of kids there, it's REALLY a family oriented type affair.

As another option, Baked in the Sun is doing takeaway Thanksgiving dinners this year, complete with everything beginning with the turkey and ending with the pumpkin pie (or apple if you prefer it). The cost for two is $60. You do need to reserve the dinner in advance. You can reach the bakery at 693-8786.

Baked in the Sun is WONDERFUL! I used to get early morning coffee there all the time when I had to be in town for the Ferry or something. Didn't know they were doing the Thanksgiving thing this year, but I'm sure it will be fabulous!
